Service-now.com Joins Panel to Discuss CMDB Practices at The New York itSMF LIG

Robert McNeill, Vice President, Strategy at Service‑now.com is one of three participating panelists at the itSMF's New York (LIG) local interest group's panel discussion tackling the challenges of "Implementing Configuration Management and the CMDB (configuration management database) from the practitioner's perspective". Mr. McNeill, a former analyst at Forrester Research will discuss his research on how to effectively design a business case for implementing a CMDB, today March 27th at 8am EST.

The CMDB is used by IT to track and maintain all relevant details of each configuration item (CI) and details of the important relationships between configuration items. As organizations move away managing infrastructure silos the CMDB provides the single point of truth for how your technology supports your business rather than how your infrastructure supports IT.

Mr. McNeill says, "There are many benefits to be achieved through implementing a CMDB with the most common centered on reducing incident closure time and improving the quality of services to the business. Process standards like ITIL, new technologies like Web services and new delivery models like SaaS have coalesced at the same time allowing organizations to tackle CMDB implementations in a rapid and simple way. ROIs are increasing as the cost of technology in the market lowers, ITIL processes make implementations easier and new technologies improve integration of previous investments with the CMDB."
