It’s one thing to enjoy your job and stay there for a year or two. It’s another thing, and a rarity at most tech companies, to stay for a decade. ServiceNow employees often stick around for five, 10, or 15 years. That’s one of the many reasons we're on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list.
We wanted to know why people choose to remain, so we asked some of our long-term employees: What keeps you at ServiceNow?
For Simon M., solution consulting area vice president, it’s all about the constant self-growth—“the ability to take risks,” he says. Throughout his 11-year tenure at ServiceNow, Simon has worked across various teams and never been bored. “It’s an environment that helps you grow, helps you take risks,” he explains.
Jason M., developer evangelism director, appreciates how small ServiceNow feels despite its tremendous growth. It’s an “all-hands-on-deck” culture that has allowed him to flourish professionally, he says.
When Jason started working at the company eight years ago, “we were a little under 4,000 people,” he notes. “Now we’re more than 20,000, and the fact that we’ve actually maintained that culture through all the growth is really amazing.”
Suneela P., senior manager of software engagement management, loves how easy it is to try new things at ServiceNow. “If you want to explore something you’re curious about, you can just go there and try it for a couple of years, learn, and then move around,” she says.
Staff Software Engineer Brady G. sticks around for the same reason: “the diversity of work.” Ricardo S., senior manager of systems engineering, appreciates that ServiceNow products serve a larger, meaningful purpose. “It’s work that makes a positive impact on communities, on companies, on business,” he says.
What’s special about ServiceNow is that there’s no need to hide your true self or conform to some nondescript corporate archetype. Here, you’re encouraged to bring your whole self to work every single day.
“It makes me very happy to find that there’s a space where people can just be their true selves without feeling the need to be a certain way, or without feeling like we need to act a certain way, regardless of skin color or regardless of who we are,” says Talent Sourcer Loveth U.
Marcel A., a solution consulting manager who’s been at ServiceNow for seven years, says his ability to fully express himself helps him perform his best work. “I can be my best self and really deliver the best results,” he explains.
“Being able to work in such a diverse team with so many people from diverse backgrounds is what makes ServiceNow special to me,” adds Alexandra L., senior globalization specialist.
The reasons many ServiceNow employees choose to stay at the company are truly countless. “There’s one thing that’s a constant for all of those 11 years I’ve been at ServiceNow,” Simon adds, “and that’s the sense of purpose. We’re here to make our customers successful.”
