4 reasons employees love working at ServiceNow in Japan
ServiceNow employees around the world enjoy the inclusive, collaborative culture we’ve developed as a global company. From our U.S. headquarters in Santa Clara, California, to our offices in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, that sentiment remains consistent.
In fact, ServiceNow has been named one of the 2024 100 Best Companies to Work For in Japan by Great Place To Work. The award is due in part to anonymous employee feedback via a survey and an employer evaluation by Great Place To Work.
On a recent visit to our Tokyo office, we found the place abuzz with activity and camaraderie. Whether brainstorming around a whiteboard or eating over bento boxes in the cafe, employees mingled across departments in a vibrant community atmosphere.
The excitement in the air was palpable as we asked employees what they like about working at ServiceNow. Here are their top answers:
1. Fast company growth
Despite ServiceNow’s ever-growing global workforce, the company retains an exhilarating startup culture, employees say. “I love the current phase of ServiceNow,” says Takumi S., manager of digital sales. “It’s been growing so quickly. It really does feel like we’re on a rocket ship.”
Tamaki S., senior manager of solution consulting, agrees. “There’s tons of energy,” she says. “Our brand value is growing, and people join our company because they feel that excitement about our potential for a big future.”
When Takanori I., employee experience solution sales manager, joined the company, he was the only person in his role. “Now, there are five of us, and growing,” he says.
2. Supportive culture
According to Takumi, Tamaki, and Takanori, ServiceNow stands apart from many other companies in Japan because of its supportive and flexible work culture.
“I have two cats, and one of them is old and often must go to the vet during work hours,” Takumi explains. “I’m so appreciative that my team is supportive. In addition, I love how we share a festive, custom cake to celebrate together with new customers. I’ve had two so far.”
Tamaki, a working mom, likes how men and women are treated as equals at ServiceNow. “I feel no difference,” she says. “I’m also grateful for the workplace flexibility when I need to tend to my 10-year-old daughter.”
“Everyone is supportive of one another and helps each other out,” Takanori adds.
3. Career advancement
Beyond the thrill of contributing to a growing company, employees get to take advantage of professional growth and development opportunities. Takumi appreciates being able to learn from and network with others, even as someone early in his career.
“I’ve been able to talk with senior executives about career growth,” he says. “That kind of access is unique.”
Tamaki says her career growth focuses more on impact than on becoming a supervisor. “I like that my supervisor is supportive of me taking on new challenges,” she says.
Individual growth conversations are an integral part of the culture, Takanori adds. “My career path has been very unique, but I’ve been very supported in growing into my roles,” he says. “The ServiceNow family made my transition from working in a different type of role for a large retailer to a tech company very smooth.”
4. Customer happiness
In addition to their personal interests, all three employees share a passion for making a difference through the ServiceNow platform. “I love seeing our customers wowed—feeling wow!—and doing the work they want to do with ServiceNow technology,” Takumi says.
Takanori agrees. “I love bringing our amazing product to more and more customers in Japan. Knowing that it will impact their lives and make their work more efficient is gratifying.”
