Employee center Pro Knowledge Article migration

For one of the customers, few thousands of knowledge articles are to be migrated from a legacy ITSM tool to ServiceNow ITSM Pro. Employee Center Pro is also to be configured for them. Now, I need help with below 2 points-

1) Whether these articles need to be migrated to EC PRO also separately, along with getting them migrated to ITSM Pro, and then only the knowledge search on EC PRO would return them as a search result? If so, how will this migration to EC pro be done?

2) IS Knowledge search feature available even with EC (not EC pro)?

Hi @Alka Sharma ,

For your First Question : NO need to migrate Knowledge Articles for EC  Additionally when you are migrating for ITSM Pro.  when you activate the Out of the box employee service center pro plugin it doesn’t let you search your knowledge article as you would expect. It normally works on a usual service portal (/sp) but not /esc.

This is because out of the box the ‘search source’ record mapped with this portal i.e. ‘knowledge bases’ & ‘Catalogs’ looks for taxonomies mapped with the platform hence it limits the search to content tagged to a topic i.e integrated with the curated experiences feature

To remove this and make the search to happen like the usual way you can make the following changes :

  1. If you are using zing search then you can simply open the ‘search source’ record and comment out the line that checks for taxonomies record mapped with the portal configuration (screenshot below)

    2. In case you are using AI search then you can just remove the filter from the AI search source index record that checks for topic taxonomy of a knowledge base record (see screenshot below)

After making the above changes refresh your portal page and it should work in the same way as you expected.

For your Second Question : Yes!! Knowledge Search is available for EC, where it Provides the ability to create and post employee-facing articles, Dynamically created employee-centric browse experience based on a unified taxonomy across all content types and Ability to bookmark content from the portal and mobile views.
