Fumito Hiratsuka is a technical trainer at ServiceNow in Japan. He’s passionate about using his skills and experience to help ServiceNow customers and partners get the most out of the Now Platform®. Fumito has been instrumental in building up ServiceNow’s training capabilities in the Japanese market. This includes developing Japanese-language training and holding workshops to bring other Japanese trainers up to speed on the capabilities and benefits of ServiceNow.

Amazingly, given all he’s accomplished at ServiceNow, Fumito only joined ServiceNow in 2022 after first hearing about us in 2019. Before that, he was an IT consultant at Accenture in Japan for ten years, where he specialized in SAP implementation and developing custom SAP business applications for manufacturing, retail, high-tech, and government clients. He also was a study group instructor for SAP developers, giving him strong training experience.

Why did he make the switch to ServiceNow? He says, “I was really impressed with ServiceNow as a platform for digital transformation. Enterprise-wide workflows are a compelling concept, and ServiceNow technology and the experiences ServiceNow provides are very appealing compared to other vendors like SAP. As soon as I saw ServiceNow, I knew I wanted to get involved.”

Fumito continues, “And it’s not just about achieving corporate goals through transformation. There are huge social benefits. While ServiceNow capabilities are evolving at a lightning pace, the overriding mission stays front and center—making work better for everyone. That opened my eyes and made me realize that ServiceNow was somewhere I could find real purpose.”

Based on his experience, Fumito knew education was one of the best ways to spread the ServiceNow message. His experience as an instructor—which he thoroughly enjoyed—and his deep technical background meant that becoming a ServiceNow technical trainer was a perfect opportunity to achieve real personal satisfaction while accelerating his career.

To build his ServiceNow knowledge, Fumito started by taking several of the courses that are available in the ServiceNow Developer Portal. He also took two Now Learning courses: ServiceNow Application Developer Core Skills and ServiceNow Application Developer Advanced Skills. These gave him the confidence to take the next step—applying for a role at ServiceNow as a technical trainer. And we are glad he did!

How have things gone for Fumito since he came on board at ServiceNow? We’ve already talked about how he’s a critical part of ServiceNow’s team in Japan, showing customers and partners how to achieve the full benefits of the Now Platform. And he’s continued to grow his ServiceNow expertise, leveraging Now Learning to become a Certified ServiceNow Administrator, Certified Application Developer, and Certified Implementation Specialist.
