Importance of DSA for a ServiceNow Developer

I started my IT career as a ServiceNow developer and learned Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) during my college days.

Now, I'm wondering if I should continue practicing DSA or focus on mastering different modules in ServiceNow. Specifically, I'm curious if there will be any in-depth DSA rounds if I apply for ServiceNow developer roles in the future.

I would really appreciate any advice from experienced professionals in India.

DSA is platform/technology agnostic. Any concept which you learnt while studying DSA can pretty much be applied on ServiceNow too.

May be you are do not see a lot of opportunities at the moment as a lot of implementation can be done via configurations in ServiceNow.

However, when it comes to scoped application development or developing a feature which doesn't exist within ServiceNow, in such cases the DSA concepts would come in handy for you.

Consider an example of designing an Advanced work assignment for agent which assigns the work to agents depending on factors like location, department, skill, availability, capacity etc. Though such a feature exists within ServiceNow but since this is a paid feature, your company may or may not want to invest init and they want you to develop this feature as a completely custom solution. In this case while designing this solution your DSA concepts will come in handy for you.
