question Re: How to map variable set variable value and catalog item variable value in the order guide in Community Central forum

If I'm following correctly, you have a MRVS that is included in the Order Guide and the same MRVS is included in Catalog Item A, and the Cascade box is checked. When you populate the MRVS on the Order Guide Describe Needs / first screen, then click the Next button, which means you are using Service Portal, you see the MRVS but it is empty.

When you try the same in the native UI / Service Catalog, when you click the Choose Options button, do you see the MRVS populated?

Hello all,

In order guide, we have MRVS type, I have created the variable in variable set. Similarly, the same variable with same name have created in one catalog itemA. When the order guide submit, the variable set values should map to the catalog itemA variables in order guide and catalog itemA should be submitted.

But the mapping of values is not happening.

Could you please suggest where i was missing the configuration.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have other variables outside of the MRVS in the Order Guide and Catalog Item? Are you using the Cascade variables setting in the Order Guide? When you go to the Choose Options / Next screen in the Order Guide, before the request is submitted, do you see the MRVS populated? Are you using the native UI / Service Catalog or Service Portal / ESC/...?

Do you really need to cascade those variables?
I would say it make sense to cascade only those variables that should have the same value on all catalog items included.

But stuff specific to a catalog item should be added only to that catalog item.

No, I have created a variable in the MRVS set and similarly same variable is created in catalog itemA .

Yes, I have enabled the cascade variable.

When I go to next screen a catalog item( according to rule base) variables will be seen. But values are not mapping.

Yes, I have a MRVS variable1 that is included in the Order Guide. But in catalog itemA Not MRVS is not included, a similar variable1 is created . When I select MRVS values in order guide and click on next screen, the similar variables present in catalog itemA is not mapping the values in service portal/native UI.
