Need to open content item in same window/tab

I have a requirement where i need to open content item in same tab. Is it possible to open in same tab/window. Kindly let me know if anyone came across this scenario.

Hello Lande,

I created content item in portal with below configurations

Name :Test

Cotent type: External content

target : within catalog

URL: I am giving url to the catalog item with in servicenow.

After clicking on below tile in portal i want catalog item should open in same tab/window but its opening in new tab.

content item has configuration for that

You can specify Target as Within Catalog or New Window/Tab

Hi,

This is OOB behavior for all External contents and it will always open the content in new Window.

This behavior is hardcoded in the widget 'SC Category Page'.

If you want to change this behavior then you need to clone OOb widget and modify it and replace custom widget in the 'sc_category' portal page.

Whatever you mentioned is correct. We need to clone the widget and make some changes. I am just wondering then what "within catalog" option will do.

As per documentation i found below

Within Catalog: displays the content within the catalog iframe window (which may not render some external websites properly).
New Window/Tab: displays the content in a new browser window or tab. Choose this option if the content does not display properly within the catalog.

Hi Akash,

I guess documentation refers to native UI view not service portal.

If you try that in native UI in Service Catalogs then you will get the behavior what you are expecting. As documentation says external URL's will not work in Service Catalog home page.
