How to enable and check whether desktop and mobile app push notification is working??

Hi Anubhav,

Desktop notification and push notification are not similar. Desktop notification depends upon the email engine whereas push notification is working through webservices apis.

I always use Live Feed or connect to check whether they are working. If I put the ServiceNow window on another tab or close it, then have someone send me a Live Feed or Connect message, I should get desktop notifications. Same test with Mobile. Have the app running in the background and then someone can message you.

Check to make sure your notification preferences include the notifications you want to receive are ON.

You can set notification from Notification Subscription link in your my account.

Under primary email, you can see there are lots notification already there, you can choose any notification and set on=true, for new notification you need to click on + sign at the top of all records.

For push notification you can see under "ServiceNowPushApp" and similar way you will use the existing from the list or create new one.

that all are email notifications, I want DESKTOP NOTIFICATIONS.

I didnot understand the desktop notification. There are two types of notification - one which send out to email, 2nd push notification that will send out to mobile if app is installed.

Please elaborate your requirement.

in setting gear you will get an option to connect desktop notification also under notifications, after enabling it how to test that desktop notification is working or not like for requested approvals or rejections.

This is related to Chat alert.

Details of desktop notification -

Enable desktop notifications for collaboration if you want to receive collaboration alerts, such as new messages, even if ServiceNow is minimized or running in the background. Each time you sign in or refresh your instance, a dialog box prompts you to enable desktop notifications. Click OK to dismiss the prompt.

If you want you can configure connect chat through below link -

Activate Connect Support

If you plugin is activated and in setting if "Desktop Notification" is on then you will get alert during chat.

1. Is it possible to get desktop notification for all the triggered email notifications for example, Request approval, Comments, Assigned to changes, etc. (Not only for chat or message).???

2. Is it possible to trigger desktop notification even if email notification is not triggered for the same. ??

3. Is it possible to work on emails without email web servers.???

No not chat alert, I want for every notification which is present in email notifications, like approvals, rejection, Assigned to any user or group, or commented etc.

I want to know that how can we check for the desktop notifications for other notifications other than messages like Request approvals, Approved or Rejected request, Additional Comments, Request Closed or cancelled, etc.

I believe Anubhav is referring to Desktop notifications. I agree with him, millennials don't even know what email is, why is it still a thing?

ctomasi would you be kind enough to talk about how you have desktop push notifications set up for live feed? we have it set up for the chat feature (easy enough) but have struggled to identify how to receive them when the user wanting to receive the notifications is a member of a live feed that is created or updated.

Hi Anupama,

Push notification is nothing but Mobile App notification. You have to first enable Mobile push notification from setting gear in Your instance. You have to install ServiceNow app from play store. In smartphone you will get notifications same as you get notifications for Whatsapp or Facebook etc.

As far as I know, does not exist. Those are screenshots I grabbed from Google as examples.

You have to remember, ServiceNow is a huge product, they are about 4-5 years behind in Web 2.0 Coolness(tm).
