Hi Jaspal,

Thanks so much. This really helps.

So the Blackout schedule can be created for any type of Change requests? Like Normal, Standard and Emergency?

Also, I don't think we need to have both Blackout and Maintanace schedules created for a change?

In the below link, it says blackout schedule can be created for related CI's, but it can be created for source as 'Change Request'.

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/orlando-it-service-management/page/product/change-management/task/t_CreateBlkoutMaintSched.html

Thank you,

Hi All,

Does anyone know on how to use Blackout Schedules in Change request? We shouldn't be able to select Planned Start and Planned End Date in Change record if that date belongs to Blackout schedule time.

Please help me if anyone has any insights, as ServiceNow doesn't talk much about it. Please provide me if you have any additional resources too.

Thanks,
Chaithra

Hi Chaithra,

'Conflict Detection' should take care of that automatically once configured. Did you check this doc.

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to understand the functionality of Conflict Detection in Change Management, and what is the role of Configuration Item here? Could anyone please help me understand this in a better way, which would really help my project.

Thanks,
Chaithra
