Source Code information in CMDB

Hello Experts,

We are working on CMDB Revamp and coming across this question:

"Can we store source code filenames in the CMDB? We store source code in GitLab and manage conflicts in GitLab daily. Storing this data in CMDB and relate it to change request, does it add any value?

not sure about CMDB but in general Servicenow uses Source Control

In My view Storing Code in CMDB will not add value much from Code versioning and configuration points of view.

CMDB changes are done on CIs and if i see from design perspective - Your Change will tagged with Application CI and Codes will be Part of the Given Application CIs.

Just as a Code repository perspective you can keep code files attached with Application CI but its maintenence is not easy.
