SNMP Discovery of Windows Servers

I would like to discover Windows servers using SNMP :

- SNMP credential works fine for servers

- I prioritized SNMP classification over Windows classification

However , when i try to discover a Windows server , the process failed after SNMP classification

Do i have to build an entire structure of classifiers, identifiers and exploration probes using SNMP for Windows Servers

For windows discovery WMI 135 or WinRM 5986 is recommended for Complete windows discovery. May i know whats the reason for not using this for Windows Discovery rather SNMP ?...

Windows probe runs first OOB, consider to change classification priorities making sure SNMP port probe runs before WMI. So, you also needs to activate SNMP agent on target Windows server and enable SNMP community there.

By using the oob windows discovery will ensure that you get the full breadth of hardware information from that system including installed software, applications and relationships. By going the snmp route will only create a shell of a system and would not be recommended. I would suggest putting the effort into getting appropriate credentials and access so you get your full worth out of that CI

Any Special Business Reason or Security reason - Not Using OOTB Supplied WMI/WEM based discovery for Windows Host.

You can do it in an Hour by doing basics pre-requisites configuration.

I would love to know - why to take SNMP Route for Windows Server Discovery?
