Discovery of EMC data domain-Storage

Hi all,

Can anybody help me to set up discovery for EMC Data Domain? What credentials should we require to configure? I cannot find the documentation for this.

Already went through the below article. Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Priyanka,

As mentioned in the KB you have to follow either using SMI-S and CIM or SNMP based discovery, check with your vendor or any other concerned admin team.

OOB we do have SNMP credential as well as CIM credential types, accordingly you can create and start discovering.

Hi,

Process is you need to discover the Server i.e. CIM server and then use the SLP queries to discover the Storage device using SMI agent.

You may need CIM credentials and the server credentials on which CIM is there.

Hi all,

Thank you for your suggestions.

Storage does not have SMI agent. So I tried to with SNMP, it is targeting the device successfully. Got the device OID. But it failed in the Classification phase, the problem here is there is no OOB Classifier to handle such devices.

I raised the issue with ServiceNow, their response as below:

Unfortunately, for other vendors like "DELL EMC DataDomain" you might need to create custom classifiers and custom patterns to explore the storage server.
NOTE: Support in creating the Custom classifiers and patterns is out of Support Scope.

HI,

If you are using SnMP and is this NetApp? Because SNMP and basic auth is used to discovery NetApp.
