Project baseline - is there a way to schedule a baseline?

Hi,

I have been asked if there is a way to schedule (or an automatic procedure) a baseline in the project related lists?

I was thinking a kind of any specified date or time to have a 'snapshot' of the project tasks state and actual dates and progress.

I suggested scheduling reports, but it is not the same thing...

Hi Skender,

There is already and OOB related list on projects called "Baseline" , you can use it to efficiently create and use project baselines.

Yes, I have already added it,

but I was thinking of an automatic baseline (like the scheduled reports).

Anyway, is a P3 priority for the client.

You may open this UI page 'create_baseline' and check its processing script .. Make use of the same in a scheduled job to automate the process of baseline creation

Yes I understand and I appreciate your suggestion

but I am no expert in scripting and I do not want to make any damage now...

Do you have any example of such script?

The only requisite is to schedule the baseline every Friday night (for example)...

You can take a copy of the processing script of the ui page and use it as a base .. It is a simple gliderecord insertion and nothing complex

You mean put code like this to the script in the ui action?

I looked at all the GlideRecord methods (on the right section),

but couldn't find anything which seemed like schedule (addActiveQuery()???)...

I inserted this code in a scheduled job and it is correct,

but where do I specify the Project name (or id) and where can i retrieve the baselines created automatically?

Change this line as per your requirement

projects.addEncodedQuery("active=true^state=1");

Baselines parent table is 'planned_task_baseline'. The script is for creation of baselines . You may run a scheduled report to automatically retrieve the data

I execute the schedule job for all active projects with no errors.

I have active 71 project and so I should except 71 baselines, right?

...

But when I run the report on planned_task_baseline table with no filters at all, I get as a result the old baselines (old date) and NO new ones created by the scheduled job right now...

What should I modify?

active=true query should work for all the active projects.

I tested the scheduled job also with other types of addEncodedQuery filters,

but it seems that it is not populating the planned_task_baseline table. And when I create manually a new baseline for a project I see it in the updated report...

When I see the system log -> events it is executed correctly.

I am thinking what is going wrong...

Kalai I noticed some behavior now:

the scheduled job doesn't create baselines for projects which already have baselines... It creates automatically baselines for projects which do not have yet any baseline.

I executed it two times (the first time it created 71 baselines) and the second time it didn't create any baseline...

Is there any filter in the script which defines this behavior?

How can I change it so to add multiple baselines (when job executed) to the same project project?

But, why not possible to create multiple baselines for a project which has (at least one) already old baselines?

I disactivated the if-control: if(!baseline.next())

Now the scheduled job cane be executed several times.

The if condition checks if the baseline already exists .. If you want multiple baselines, you have to remove that ... But it's more logical to have only one baseline per project.
