Unable to hide Variable set variables for one catalog item.

Hi Experts,

I am unable to run my catalog UI policy on variables of Variable set over Catalog UI Policy on Variable Set .

I tried Catalog Client script on my catalog item to hide the variable set variables but no luck .

I am using one variable set which is being used by more than 10 catalog items . On this variable set , two catalog UI policies are running which is taking precedence over catalog item UI policy .

Please help me out to achieve this .

Hello,

Change: Applies to --> Catalog Item and select the catalog item name instaed of Variable set name

Use this g_form.setDisplay('VARIABLE_SET_NAME',false); on UI Policy or Client Script.

Replace 'VARIABLE_SET_NAME' with the name of your variable set.

As you mentioned above, UI policies are running which is taking precedence over catalog item UI policy . but I think that is not from London release I read somewhere,

Hi Pratiksha,

Thanks for your Prompt response . I have tried this to hide few variables of one variable set but it is still same .

we are using one Variable set in which we have one select box .Visibility of the variable set Variables depend on the Option we select (This UI Policy is already working for Variable Set).

But I am trying to hide two more variables for this Variable set of my catalog item(new).

I have used the below catalog Client Script on my catalog item but no luck again .

if (g_form.getValue('var_user_type')=='Guest')

g_form.setVisible('variable_name_1',false);
g_form.setVisible('variable_name_2',false);

Hi Sheetal,

So you want to hide those 2 variables within the variable set based on the other variable value var_user_type

Is this for only few catalog items?

Hi Sheetal,

if you are currently looking for single catalog item then do this

1) Applies to - variable set

2) Type - onchange

3) Variable set - give your variable set name here

4) variable - var_user_type

5) UI Type - ALL

6) Script:

Note: Ensure you give your catalog item sys_id in the script below so that it runs only 1 catalog item now

function onChange(control, oldValue, newValue, isLoading) {
	if (isLoading || newValue == '') {
		return;
	}

	var catItemSysId = g_form.getParameter("sysparm_id");

	if(catItemSysId == 'yourCatalogItemSysIdHere'){

		if (g_form.getValue('var_user_type')=='Guest'){
			g_form.setVisible('variable_name_1',false);
			g_form.setVisible('variable_name_2',false);
		}	
	}

	//Type appropriate comment here, and begin script below

}

It might be due to one UI policy that is already running on Variable set.

I have unchecked this property also but no Luck

Just to make sure it works just disable any other Catalog UI Policy or catalog client script on that variable set

what happens when the value is changed? did you try adding alert and check?

Note: Also check correct catalog item sys_id and valid value of var_user_type, valid variables to hide

	var catItemSysId = g_form.getParameter("sysparm_id");

Hi Ankur,

I need your help again on this . I checked that script on Item it was working as i need but when i checked that on service portal its showing me Javascript error in Catalog client script code for line.

var catItemSysId = g_form.getParameter("sysparm_id");

Please suggest how to take this error out .

that's correct for service portal it won't work

possibly you should try to get the url parameter and check if that catalog item sys_id is present or not

something like this

var url = top.location.href;
var catalogItemSysId = new URLSearchParams(url).get("sys_id");

you need to check in the script whether it is portal or not and use that code accordingly to get the parameter from url

Refer updated script below

I tried a lot its not working on portal . Hence dropping this plan will define another variable set for this item .
