Data Archiving - RaptorDB

We are planning to implement Data Archiving in ServiceNow and had a question regarding RaptorDB.

Is it necessary to have RaptorDB in order to use Data Archiving effectively, or can archiving be implemented independently on the standard ServiceNow database?

My understanding is that Data Archiving helps improve performance by moving older records out of active tables into archive tables, rather than deleting them.

Also, in what scenarios would RaptorDB add value in an archiving strategy.

Would appreciate insights from anyone who has implemented this in their instance. Any documentation will also help.

Standard Archiving uses the traditional Data Archiving plugin (included in platform) to move inactive data into ar_ tables within the same database. This reduces table size for performance.

Whereas RaptorDB Professional offers advanced archiving to external object storage for much greater data management. With Australia Release RaptorDB will be available as paid plugin.

Data archiving to object storage requires RaptorDB Professional V2. RaptorDB Professional is a licensed database; for more information, contact your account team.

To purchase a subscription, contact your ServiceNow account manager. When you purchase a subscription, certain plugins are activated automatically. If a paid plugin isn't activated automatically, you can manually activate it from the All Applications list in your instance.
