Help with generating Fiscal Period for a single year

Hello,

In our live instance we need to re-generate our Fiscal Periods for 2022 (they were inadvetently removed). Is possible to do this for a single year (bearing in mind that we are now in 2023 of course)? Or would we have to remove all of our Fiscal Peiods and then generate them all back again (of course we know that this will remove Fiscal Period detail from any records that have Fiscal Period entries).

Hello,

When you say regenerate the fiscal period what happened with the old fiscal periods? Is it deleted or are you wanting to regenerate using a different fiscal type? If you want to regenerate with the same calendar type i do not think there will be any issue, however if you change the calendar type you will get a error as below:-

Hi,

One of our admins deleted the Fiscal Periods for 2022. We just need to regenetate for the same calendar type. When we try to do this we get an error of "Start Year should be before End Year." Please see screenshot beow.

That is because you have to select the end year as 2023 as below:-

then it will create the period correctly from jan 2022 to dec 2022 as below:-

We were trying that but now we get "There was an error while generating the fiscal periods for the provided inputs.". Please see screesnhot below.

Do you have any fiscal data available right now in the fiscal period table?

I tried deleting couple of months and then deleted all and then regenerated and I was bale to do it on my PDI without any issue

I am doing all this in my PDI as well amd I do have a whole load of Fiscal periods (essentially I recreated what happend in our live instance - as in I deleted all 2022 entries). Thanks for you help so far. I will try it out in our onsite Dev instance to what happens there!

Hi David,

You need to make sure that all Fiscal Periods records are not being deleted for 2022, including Month, Quarter and Year before we re-generate.

I would advice first explore any way to restore deleted Fiscal Period instead of regenerating. You can also export/import it from other dev/test/prod instance. That is recommended way instead of re-creating. The problem with re-creation is that all earlier record references will be still invalid, that will create unexpected issues in the application.

Hello Yogesh,

After some initial investigation I could not find any records for 2022 in our deleted recourds (which is odd). I will look at exporting them from our Dev instance into our live. I was not really keen on regenrating the Fiscal Peiods as there could well be related records such Benefit Plans and Cost plans that are referencing Fiscal Peroids.

these settings create Fiscal Period records for 2023.
