Hide Add Task Button on Project Workspace

Hi There,

is there any way we can hide Add Task button on project workspace. I tried to hide it but its not present in declarative action/ui action or anywhere else.

Could you explain your use case in more detail, why do you want to hide Add Task button on project workspace (Planning tab)?

This is the basic functionality of planning to add new tasks to project.

My requirement is to hide Add Task button for project manager/users.

Hi @Community Alums ,
Please open the Project Workspace experience in UI Builder.

You can open the Planning tab

— on this screen, you’ll see the “Add Task” button.

Kindly locate this button component in the UI Builder and set its visibility to hidden so it doesn’t appear on the Project Workspace page.

Thanks for your reply @miftikhar20 but Add Task is not visible in any config of ui builder.

Hi @Community Alums to confirm, are you wanting to prevent the creation of tasks only within workspace for these users? These same users should be allowed to create tasks via core UI?

Please open the SN Task Planner 1 config pane. and In Can create project task field click on the

In Can create project task field select the Use static Input option.

Uncheck the option and save the page

Hi @Community Alums ,

This will disable task creation functionality from whole planning tab, you cannot see option Add task below or Add child task from task context menu.

Follow below steps:

Steps to disable the "Can create project task" option in UI Builder:

Go to UI Builder → Project Workspace → Planning tab.
In the Body section, select SN Task Planner 1.
Click on Configure.
Scroll down to find the Can create project task option.
Click the pencil icon next to it — it will turn into a checkbox.
Uncheck the box.
Click Save to apply the changes.

If you don't want users to create Task from workspace and from core UI then ensure that user doesn't pass Table.None CREATE ACL on project task table

If you want only to hide in workspace then do this

1) go to Planning default page variant

2) Click on Body -> Main -> SN Task Planner 1

3) then in right side Configure and Scroll to bottom

4) Ensure "Can create project task" is unchecked by giving Static input

Output: Add task is gone

Hi @Community Alums ,

The Add Task button on the Planning page will be visible to users who have permission to create project tasks.

If you want to control this access, you should configure an ACL on the Project Task table to define who can create project tasks.

Modifying the configuration in UI Builder is not recommended, as it will impact users who are supposed to have access to create tasks on the Planning page.

Though the solution provided by Muhammad Iftikhar is technically right, it is a customization.

It is advisible to handle this use case through ACL. Please create an ACL(or update and existing ACL) to not allow create of Project task, thats it, OOB code should honour that ACL and stop showing the new button.
