To eliminate a task in the workflow

Hi,

I need to create a variable "a" and give the choices as "b" and"c" and assign it to the respestive "pqr" and "xyz" group in lookup table, Also I need to eliminate a few task creted in the workflow. If anyone have any idea, reply to my question.
