Hello,
As we are evaluating the adoption of SPM for the company, a question arose regarding project management capabilities:
In a scenario where we create a project task for 3 days for example, then we assign a resource plan to this task for the 3 days but the person requested to complete the task has only 50% availability, and one of the 3 days requested is a bank holiday, is there a possibility it would recalculate automatically the task duration and end date? and should it be possible, would it also adjust the project duration and end date?
Thank you.
Kind regards,

Hi @HLab_23,
This is interesting post. Thanks for sharing the schenario with community.
Rather than recalculating the task duration based on resource assignment on the task, I would like to take the approach of managing the correct schedule.
By default every project schedule is governed by out of the box schedule - 'Project Management Schedule'.
You can confirm the schedule, by opening any of the projects and right-click the header bar & select View > Advanced.
Out of the box, this schedule is defined as one day = 8 hours with weekends excluded.
This is the reason when you create a project for 2 weeks including Sat & Sunday, the system shows the planned duration as 10 days (considering 5 weekdays per week) and not 14 days.
Ideally organizations need to set the child schedule for company's holiday schedule so these holidays are excluded from the project duration consideration.
Inside the child schedule, ensure that all the entries are of the type 'Excluded'
However, I have noticed that even after setting the child schedule (in project management schedule) for holidays, system is considering the holidays in the project's planned duration & this is a defect for which a support case can be raised.
Hope this answers your question. If it does, please mark the response as correct / helpful and help others.
Wish you Merry Christmas & Wonderful 2024 !
Thank You!
