SAN DIEGO ‑ Jan. 25, 2011 ‑ Service‑, the creator of software as a service (SaaS) for IT service management (ITSM), today announced it has won the 2010 Products of the Year silver award in the systems management software category. This is the second consecutive year that Service‑ has been recognized by the editors of TechTarget's Data Center Media Group, previously winning the gold award in the same category last year.

One of the independent judges in the evaluation said, "Once again, customer success and product functionality from Service‑ show the company's strong innovation and presence in the IT service management market. The fact that the traditional IT software vendors have all taken notice shows how powerful Service‑ has become."

The judge went on to say, "In 2010, Service‑ strengthened its systems management offerings with its configuration management improvements and a new SaaS application for runbook automation. The company continues to look impressive serving as a catalyst for innovation in what was once a sleepy area of systems management."

Service‑ was first to deliver cloud computing management from the cloud with the new release of SaaS for runbook automation and IT process orchestration. Service‑ Runbook Automation extends the same graphical workflow engine that underpins the Service‑ platform to automate tasks across all types of infrastructure elements such as applications, databases and hardware. This capability (also known as IT process orchestration) dramatically reduces the time to execute defined processes and helps deliver extremely fast and predictable IT service results. The Fall 2010 release included a process pack for VMware provisioning that integrates with the vCenter API. 2010 Products of the Year winners were named in three categories including enterprise systems management software, server hardware and data center infrastructure systems. Winners were selected according to the following six criteria:

An independent panel of judges selected the 2010 Products of the Year winners.
