Use Data Certification in CMDB Workspace to administer Data Certification, create Certification policies, manage Data Certification tasks, and view analytics about on-going processes.
Note:
Data Certification in CMDB Workspace and the legacy build of Data Certification on Core UI operate separately, and aren't synchronized. Therefore, any Data Certification definitions, such as filters and certification schedules, that you create in one of those implementations, doesn't appear and isn't available in the other implementation.

## Data Certification experience in CMDB Workspace {#data-cert-exp-cmdb-workspace__section_ilw_k4g_xzb}

Use the [CMDB Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/I__NBWRpmKjGtpFABIzs7w "The CMDB Workspace is an efficient, central, and modernized way for you to work. Use CMDB Workspace to search and explore the CMDB, examine health and recent activities, and access CMDB dashboards and tools to support tasks in your organization.") landing page and its views to administer Data Certification:

* Use the [Management view in CMDB Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/GLuGcKL5UFzylxe0LYOyGQ "The Management view provides CMDB Admins with quick access to key management tools and deep insights into CMDB health and activities. The view provides and details such as duplicate CIs and recent activities in the CMDB.") to navigate to CMDB Data Manager to [create a new Certification policy](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/N2KtQqz0J3ocQj3_uU7Dhg "Create a CMDB Data Manager policy to automatically process CIs life-cycle events such as deletion. Applying consistent and standard life-cycle policies to CIs helps maintain the health of the CMDB.").
* Use the My work tile on the CMDB Workspace landing page to access your open and overdue Certification tasks that you need to review and process.

* Use the [My Work view in CMDB Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/jl6VKBDRYzk3yiQ5uDiuAQ "Use the My Work view in CMDB Workspace to manage your tasks. Tasks in this view are related to data compliance such as attestation and certification tasks.") to access any Data Certification tasks assigned to you under the Certification tasks section.

{#data-cert-exp-cmdb-workspace__ul_rxn_tng_xzb}
Manage certification tasks in CMDB Workspace:

* [Manage Data Certification instances and tasks, and see progress, status, and insights in the Data Certification Dashboard](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/mBEVfqxDoWNWmNOTUuceTg "Use the Data Certification Dashboard in CMDB Workspace as a central location to manage Data Certification instances and tasks, and to see counts, progress, state, and analytical insights. You can drill down past due certification tasks to examine and to reassign them, for example, so that they can be completed by an appropriate user.")
* [Review Certification tasks in CMDB Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/XS2_ZbYI1O77~dZYGxXTXQ "Review the values of record fields and CI attributes in certification tasks assigned to you, and then certify, edit, or fail the review according to your findings. For managers, tasks of direct reports are included, and for user group managers, tasks of members in the group are also included.")
* [Review failed certification tasks in CMDB Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/QXeJHD_AbxacXszggJVl4g "Review records (and CIs) that failed the certification review and are assigned to you. Those exceptions appear in a list that is dynamically updated as certification tasks are being reviewed.")

## Retention of Data Certification records {#data-cert-exp-cmdb-workspace__section_dry_tq1_zfc}

Archival and destroy processes of certification policy related records, are separate from those processes for records of all other policy types. This separation facilitates the extension of the retention period of certification
policy records. Retaining certification policy execution records for longer periods of time is useful in situations where those records are needed for audits and is also useful for the Data Certification Dashboard, which is
populated by these records.
The following configurations facilitate the separation of retention policies for Data Certification records:

* The table cleanup rule for the CMDB Data Management Policy Executions \[cmdb_data_management_policy_execution\] table, which is stored in the Auto Flushes \[sys_auto_flush\] table, excludes certification policy execution records from recurring cleanups.
* The Archive CMDB Data Management Tasks archive rule, that applies to all CMDB Data Manager policy execution records, excludes certification policy records. At each archive run, this archive rule is configured to also automatically archive its related records in the CMDB Data Management Certification Task To Document \[sn_cmdb_ws_dm_certification_task_to_document\] table (Archive Related Records).
* The archive rule, Archive Certification Instances, archives certification policy execution records from the CMDB Data Management Policy Execution \[cmdb_data_management_policy_execution\] table. This archive rule is configured to archive certification policy execution records 2 years after creation, and to destroy those records 7 years after they are archived.
* The archive rule, Archive Certification tasks, archives the certification task records from the CMDB Data Management Task \[cmdb_data_management_task\] table. This archive rule also contains an Archive Related Records entry that archives the related records in the CMDB Data Management Certification Task To Document \[sn_cmdb_ws_dm_certification_task_to_document\] table.
