Use the widget authoring shortcuts to create and edit rich, banner, styled, and news (edit only) content directly from the employee portal. When you use the widget shortcuts, the system generates a publish plan to deliver the
content to that specific widget.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_cd.content_manager and editing permission for this topic or page. For more information on ownership permissions, see [Content Ownership](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/yLqH5cBLxIP0L2QKunYKeA "Define who has permission to create content, where they can publish it, and which employees can view it.")

## About this task

The following widgets offer authoring shortcuts:

* Content experiences
* Rich Content
* News (edit existing news articles only)

{#ec-create-content-widgets__ul_y3f_t5j_vdc}For more information on which widgets support which content type, see [Publishing content](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/RiEXhnjNDQFU~z4Ca0N2Kw "Use Content Publishing to create, schedule, and deliver your portal content to your employees.").

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllSelf ServiceEmployee Center.
2. Enable the Author view toggle.
   The Add content and Edit content icons appear above the Rich Content widget.
3. Click the Add content or Edit content icon.
   * If you click Add content, the new content form opens. Follow the content creation flow to create a content record and assemble the rich, banner, styled, or news content.
   * If you click Edit content, the Rich Content Editor opens where you can edit the content as needed.
   {#ec-create-content-widgets__choices_x4q_kk2_wbc}
4. Select Save and Finish to return to the content record.
5. Click Save and continue or the Publish tab.
   The system auto-populates a publish plan that targets the content to the widget.

## What to do next

If necessary, modify the publish plan. See [Create a publish plan for your content](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/DG0leRcxBKOwwDVd~gkcAw "After you create content in the Content Library, add one or more publish plans to control where the content is delivered, the audience, and the period of time it is available.").
