## Summary of Audit results

Audit results in ServiceNow's Hardware Asset Management (HAM) provide a detailed status of assets after scheduled or blind audits of stockrooms or other locations.
These results compare physically scanned assets with asset records in the ServiceNow instance to identify discrepancies, new assets, or excluded assets.
Show full answer Show less
The source table for audit results depends on the system property **snhamp.migratehamaudit** . If set to *false* and audit enhancements are not enabled, results come from the **Asset Audits \[snhampassetaudit\]** table. If set to *true* , results come from the enhanced **Asset Audits \[snitamcommonassetaudit\]** table, available from HAM version 15.0.0 onwards.

## Key Details and Fields

The audit results categorize assets as follows:

* **Scanned and expected:** Assets scanned that are expected at the location or stockroom.
* **Scanned and not expected:** Assets scanned but not expected at the location; these exist in the ServiceNow system.
* **Expected and not found:** Assets expected at the location but not scanned.
* **New:** Assets scanned that have no existing record in ServiceNow; new records are created with "Unknown model category" and "Unknown model."
* **Excluded from HAM/licensing:** Assets scanned but excluded from Hardware Asset Management or licensing features; audit fields for these are not updated.
* **Found but not in audit scope:** Assets scanned outside the specific audit scope but still part of the location's inventory.

When a multi-scan method is used, new asset records are created with unknown model details and an asset remediation task is generated for update within the Hardware Asset Workspace.

## Related Lists and Management

* **Expected Assets:** Lists all assets expected at the audited location, populated upon first scan.
* **Scanned Assets:** Lists all assets scanned during the audit, updated with each scan submission.
* **Excluded Assets:** Lists all assets scanned but excluded from HAM.

## Practical Implications for ServiceNow Customers

Understanding audit results helps you accurately reconcile physical assets with your asset database, identify missing or unexpected items, and manage new asset entries effectively. Enabling audit enhancements provides a more detailed and updated audit data structure.

Use remediation tasks generated after audits to maintain asset data quality by updating unknown model and category details promptly.

Proper interpretation of excluded assets and licensing-excluded assets ensures compliance and accurate asset management within your organization.
The Audit results shows the status of the assets when the scheduled or blind audits of asset stockrooms and other locations is complete.
The audit results are generated by comparing the assets scanned at the physical location or stockroom and the asset records present in the ServiceNow instance.
Important:
If the sn_hamp.migrate_hamaudit system property is set to false and you haven't enabled audit enhancements in your ServiceNow instance, the audit results are populated from the Asset Audits \[sn_hamp_asset_audit\] table. {#audit-results__table_lzr_bnb_gvb__entry__2}

| Field | Description |
|-|-|
| Scanned and expected | Number of assets scanned in the audit that are expected to be present at the location or stockroom. |
| Scanned and not expected | Number of assets scanned in the audit that are not expected to be present at the location or stockroom. These asset records are present in the ServiceNow instance. |
| Expected and not found | Number of assets that are expected to be present at the location or stockroom but not scanned as part of the audit. |
| New | Number of asset records that were missing from the ServiceNow instance when the assets were scanned. In such cases, a new asset record is created with the model category set as Unknown model category and the model set as Unknown model. |
| Excluded from HAM | Number of assets scanned as part of the audit process that are excluded from Hardware Asset Management features. For these assets, audit fields aren't updated. |
[Table 1. Audit Results]

{#audit-results__table_lzr_bnb_gvb}
The following related lists show asset information:

* Expected Assets: Shows a list of all assets that are part of the stockroom or location that is being audited. This list gets populated when you scan an asset for the first time in the audit.
* Scanned Assets: Shows a list of all assets that are scanned during the audit. The list is updated each time scans are submitted from the ServiceNow Agent app.
* Excluded Assets: Shows a list of all assets scanned as part of the audit which are excluded from Hardware Asset Management.
{#audit-results__ul_mzr_bnb_gvb}
Important:
If you have set the sn_hamp_migrate_hamaudit system property value to true to enable audit enhancements in your ServiceNow instance, the audit results are populated from the Asset Audits \[sn_itam_common_asset_audit\] table. Audit enhancements feature is available with Hardware Asset Management version 15.0.0 onwards. {#audit-results__table_i33_kdp_13c__entry__2}

| Description | Description |
|-|-|
| Expected | Number of expected assets that were scanned. |
| Not expected and location corrected | Number of assets that were scanned but weren't expected. |
| Missing | Number of expected assets that weren't scanned. |
| New | Number of assets that were scanned but don't have a record in your ServiceNow instance. Note: If the audit record's Scan method is set to Multi scan, a new asset record is created using the provided Asset tag. The new asset record is created with unknown product model and unknown model category value. Additionally, an asset remediation task is also created to notify you that an asset record is created with unknown model category and unknown product model. Open the asset remediation task from the Hardware Asset Workspace and update the Model category and Model fields value for the asset. For more information, see [Close an asset remediation task](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/ZTAoEfZRu7Kwd2EaKj8HjA "View the open asset remediation from the Inventory view and close the task after updating the Model category and Model fields value for the asset."). |
| Excluded from licensing | Number of scanned assets that are excluded from licensing. A value is shown in this field when you scan an asset that meets one of the following conditions: * When you scanned an enterprise asset that is considered as an excluded from licensing asset, if your ServiceNow® instance doesn't have an Enterprise Asset Management license. * When you have opted out of any HAM Resource Categories, then any asset you scan that belongs to those Resource Categories is considered as an asset excluded from licensing. {#audit-results__ul_usg_15g_xhc} |
| Found but not in audit scope | The number of scanned assets that are not within the scope of the current audit record. For example, if the audit is created to scan assets located in Aisle and Space 001 of the stockroom, but an asset belonging to Aisle and Space 002 in the stockroom is scanned, that asset cannot be categorized as an unexpected asset for the stockroom. Since the asset is still an expected asset for the stockroom, it is categorized as found but not in audit scope asset. |
