# Configuring Enterprise Agile Planning {#ariaid-title1}

Activate a configuration, add teams to your Agile structure, and define your planning calendars. Your team can then get started with Backlog management and PI planning in EAP.

## Configuration overview {#configuring-eap__section_opk_541_dzb}

The following tasks require the EAP admin (sn_apw_advanced.eap_admin) role.

1. [Install Strategic Planning](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/rg8T4N9jJ9lTpXDWX5vWGw "Install the Strategic Planning application from ServiceNow Store if you have the admin role.").

   Enterprise Agile Planning is available within the Strategic Planning workspace.
2. Assign the EAP roles to users. See [Components installed with Enterprise Agile Planning](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/CktFkWp965PGqYL6AooxEw "Several types of components are installed with Enterprise Agile Planning when you install the Strategic Planning applications, including tables and user roles.").
3. Learn about EAP configurations, team level hierarchy, and work item type rollup.

6. Define the agile structure by adding teams to your EAP configuration. The following tasks require the system admin role.

1. (Optional) Create additional planning calendar types. 3. (Optional) If you want a different type of team or work item than those available by default, you can create custom types.
