# ServiceNow product documentation external content connector

# ServiceNow product documentation external content connector {#ariaid-title1}

The ServiceNow® product documentation external content connector retrieves topics from the ServiceNow product documentation and makes their content and metadata searchable in AI Search applications.  
Note:  
This external content connector is not included in the External Content Connectors Application Suite application. To use this connector, you must install it separately. For details on installation, see [Install External Content Connectors](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/fh6hydbG9U2h7YF0C1P1Ag "Install the External Content Connectors applications from the ServiceNow Store.").

The system automatically schedules monthly content crawls to retrieve updated content from the product documentation for a family release that you specify. Search administrators can run one-time content crawls to update content ahead
of schedule.

The indexed content and metadata are stored as records in a connector-specific indexed source. Search administrators can create search sources from this
indexed source and link them to search profiles to make the indexed records searchable in AI Search applications.
