Use the ServiceNow®
Configuration Management Database (CMDB) application to build logical representations of assets, services, and the relationships between them that comprise the infrastructure of your organization. Details about these components
are stored in the CMDB as configuration items (CIs) which you can use to monitor the infrastructure, helping ensure integrity, stability, and continuous service operation.
Use
core features such as CMDB Health, CMDB Identification and Reconciliation, and CMDB Data Manager to monitor and detect health issues, reconcile data integrity issues, and manage data life cycle.
Note:
CMDB modules, features, and wizards are not supported on mobile devices. You cannot use a mobile device to access the CI Class Manager, Query Builder, or Duplicate CI Remediator or to access or configure CMDB features such as Identification and Reconciliation, CMDB Health, CMDB Data Manager, baseline CMDB, and proposed changes.

| [ExploreOverview of CMDB and its predefined tables and key classes.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/nyIbTOXlbANhjPInqJAriQ "The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) creates and maintains the logical configurations your network infrastructure needs to support a ServiceNow service.") | [ConfigurePopulate the CMDB.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/hOY6rOMFYBrZZAQ9PLIXTg "You can populate the CMDB by using Discovery, by using the IntegrationHub ETL or Import Sets to import and integrate data from a third-party source, by integrating with an external CMDB, or by manually creating CIs.") | [CMDB WorkspaceManage CMDB health through dashboards.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/a2CFumQz9rJXSbMDneDM~Q "The CMDB Workspace is an efficient, central, and modernized way for you to work. Use CMDB Workspace to search and explore the CMDB, examine health and recent activities, and access CMDB dashboards and tools to support tasks in your organization.") |
| [CI Class ManagerView, create, or edit basic class definitions and class settings for identification and Reconciliation, and CMDB Health.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/JDgmmgq9rcZvYcGvJQK_rw "Use the CI Class Manager to centrally view, create, or edit basic class definitions and class settings for identification, reconciliation, and CMDB Health.") | [CMDB 360 / Multisource CMDBTrack and manage how multiple sources populate the same CI attributes.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/xI7lDqenCyez8yJwY0mcNw "CMDB 360 retains complete history about discovery sources and proposed values, involved in updates of CI attributes. Use CMDB 360 data to track how the CMDB is populated by various discovery sources at the CI attribute level. Also, to revert CI updates from a specific discovery source, or to recompute attribute values using updated reconciliation rules.") | [CMDB Data ManagerPerform bulk management of CI life cycle operations such as deletion, archival, and attestation.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/6I4OMRcPHLSAka2kYguM7g "CMDB Data Manager is a policy-driven framework for bulk management of CI life-cycle operations such as deletion, archival, and attestation. The CMDB Data Manager is a comprehensive and integrated solution that scales to large CMDBs and copes with rapid changes in a cloud-based world.") |
| [Duplicate CIsRemediate single or bulk de-duplication tasks.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/cAV7eSJf3o6K4iwYazaClQ "Duplicate CIs in the CMDB unnecessarily overload the system and interfere with the CMDB's integrity and reliability. It is therefore important to regularly use CMDB tools that detect and remediate duplicate CIs.") | [CIs attestation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/oMMfX4yu3s2~krfWNI5puQ "Verify the existence of actual IT infrastructure and applications that you own, systematically and in bulk. As CIs are continuously ingested into the CMDB from various data sources, ensure the integrity of the CMDB. Remove any stale CIs that are associated with IT infrastructure or applications that no longer exists.")Verify the existence of actual IT infrastructure and applications, systematically and in bulk. | [Data CertificationValidate all your data in the CMDB on a regular schedule or on-demand, in CMDB and non-CMDB tables.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/kdhDzN1YzZfiWVM5PzG5kQ "Data Certification manages scheduled and on-demand validations of data in CMDB and non-CMDB tables.") |
| [CMDB Query Builder](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/sOXuLzvrlZgKCf8jOh6UaQ "The CMDB Query Builder enables you to build complex infrastructure and service queries that span multiple CMDB classes, non-CMDB tables, and that involve many CIs that are connected by different relationships.")Build complex infrastructure and service queries. | [Unified MapView a hierarchical map of CIs and the relationships between them.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/JG1HJIspS23EbhQh7mhQKQ "The Unified Map feature displays a graphical hierarchical map of the CMDB — CIs and the connections between them. Unified Map combines some of the capabilities of Dependency Views, and Service Mapping into a single map experience.") | [CMDB HealthMonitor and maintain CMDB health: duplicate CIs, required CI fields, and audits.](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/S_IO~dCCwK1kJrcMovMqsg "A healthy CMDB, based on health benchmarks in an organization, is essential to an effective and continuous use of the product. Health indicators such as duplicate CIs, required CI fields, and audits are evaluated and aggregated into health scores at the class, health group, and service levels. CMDB Health also provides a framework for applying standardized CI remediation.") |
| [Reference](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/2BaGUz5nPW8vpafFrX90_w "The topics in this section provide various reference details for CMDB.")Reference topics provide detailed descriptions of tables, properties, forms, and roles. | | |
