# Associate a discrete asset to a linear asset {#ariaid-title1}

Associate a discrete asset to a linear asset in order to query and find these assets from the linear asset at a later point of time.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_eam.enterprise_asset_manager

## Procedure

1. Navigate to Enterprise Asset WorkspaceEnterprise asset estateLinear assets.
2. Open the linear asset record with which you want to associate a discrete asset.
3. Select the Discrete assets related list.
4. Select New.
5. On the form, fill in the fields.

   | Field | Description |
   | Discrete asset | Name of the discrete asset. |
   | Linear asset | Name of the linear asset that the discrete asset is associated to. |
   | Marker | Marker of the discrete asset. You can either select an existing marker or select the location picker to create a marker. Marker must be within the linear asset boundary, which is defined by the boundary width of the linear asset. |
   | Description | Description of the discrete asset. |

6. Select Save.
