# Generate release notes for a release {#ariaid-title1}

Generate structured release notes for a release using AI-driven summarization, reducing manual effort and improving clarity for stakeholders. The release notes are generated from the release scope.

## Before you begin

Required applications and plugins:
:
    * Digital Product Release version 2.3 or later.

    * ServiceNow Otto for ITSM plugin (sn_itsm_gen_ai) version 12.0.0 or later.

Configuration:
:
    * The Generate Release Notes skill must be active.For more information, see [Configure ServiceNow Otto for IT Service Management (ITSM)](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/U2jPYgLnUBs3AAFeO4dZmQ "If you have the admin role, you can configure the ServiceNow Otto for IT Service Management (ITSM) application so that agents can use the generative AI capabilities in Service Operations Workspace for ITSM and in Core UI.").

    * The release phase set as the release readiness must be in progress or completed.

Role required: sn_dpr_model.product_manager

## About this task

The release notes are generated using the release scope data for the release:

* Product enhancements and work items
* Incidents
* Problems
* Requests

## Procedure

1. Navigate to WorkspacesDigital Product Release Workspace.
2. Select the releases icon (![Releases icon.]()).
3. Select a release from the list to open.
4. Select the Release notes section to manage release notes.
5. Select Generate to create the release notes using AI-driven summarization.  
   Depending on the number of items in the release scope, this process might take some time. You can choose to close this section and proceed with other work as needed. After the release notes are generated and ready for
   review, you receive an email notification.  
   The release notes are generated and displayed.
6. Review the AI-generated release notes for accuracy and make changes, if necessary.
7. To save the release notes, select Save.
8. **Optional:** If you [update the release scope](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/PuM1N2L89zKDS9OLOTYPEQ "Review and update the scope of the release by adding or removing product enhancements, planning items, and related tasks like incidents and problems."), you can regenerate the release notes by selecting Regenerate.  
   The existing release notes are replaced with the regenerated release notes, which include the latest release scope data.
9. To publish the release notes, select Publish.  
   The release notes are set to read only.
10. Select Download to download a copy of release notes as a PDF file.
11. Select Copy link to create a shareable link to the release notes.  
    You can share the link with your stakeholders. They can access the release notes in Digital Product Release Workspace.
12. **Optional:** To add content manually or regenerate the release notes after they are published, select Edit.
