# View outages

# View outages from Desktop Assistant {#ariaid-title1}

View outages to identify potential task hazards and plan your work accordingly. Outages can be planned, unplanned, or related to service degradation.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_dex_desktop.user or sn_dex_desktop.admin

## Procedure

1. Log in to Desktop Assistant.  
   For more information, see [Open and log in to Desktop Assistant](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/AW4yXIRC3BIVADeaOxCTyQ "Open and log in to Desktop Assistant to get quick access to self-service tools, network tests, important notifications, and support resources.").
2. On the Desktop Assistant home page, select Outages.  
   You are directed to the System Status page on the Employee Center portal.
3. In the Current Status section of the System Status page, view the list of active outages.
4. Select an outage to view more details on the outage details page.
