# Automated Test Framework (ATF)

# Automated Test Framework (ATF) {#ariaid-title1}

* Release version: Australia

* ![](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/portal-asset/ico-clock) 1 minute to read

The Automated Test Framework (ATF) enables you to create and run automated tests to confirm that your instance works after making a change. For example, after an upgrade, during application development, or when deploying instance
configurations with update sets. Review failed test results to identify the changes that caused the failure and the changes that you should review.
Note:
By default, the system property to run automated tests is disabled to prevent you from accidentally running them on a production system. Run tests only on development, test, and other non-production instances to avoid data corruption and outage.

For developer training, see [Using the Automated Test Framework](https://developer.servicenow.com/app.do#!/trainlist/app_store_learnv2_atf_paris_automated_test_framework?v=paris) on the ServiceNow
Developer Site.
Note:
Use ServiceNow Creator Pro Plus's Test generation skill to easily create automated tests. Refer [Test generation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/8CNdkwol_xAONMghj1nQPg "Simplify your automated test authoring by leveraging the power of ServiceNow's Test generation skill available with ServiceNow Otto for Creator. Simply describe your test requirements, and Test generation generates the test for you. You can then review the generated test before accepting it or make any edits with an updated prompt.") documentation for further details.
