  • Activate a completed decision tree so you can use it in playbooks created using Playbooks, in recommendations created using Recommended Actions for Service, or in Service Portal.

    Before you begin

    Role required: admin, sn_gd_core.decision_tree_author

    About this task

When you activate a decision tree, Decision Tree Builder checks for errors such as missing information, invalid input mappings due to changes in prior node inputs, or missing guidance inputs. After all the errors are resolved, you can activate the decision tree.

If you make changes to an activated decision tree, remember to activate the decision tree again to display the updated decision tree in a workspace. When a decision tree is activated to create a new version, the success message lists all playbooks and activities that reference the decision tree with direct links to facilitate version updates.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to All > Guided Decisions > Decision Trees.
    2. Select the decision tree that you want to activate.
    3. Select Open in Builder.
    4. In Decision Tree Builder, select Activate.
      • If there are errors in your decision tree, error icons and alert messages are displayed. You must resolve the errors before you can activate the decision tree. For more information, see Validation error notifications in Decision Tree Builder.
      • If there are no errors, the confirmation dialog box to activate the decision tree displays.
    5. In the confirmation dialog box, select Activate now.
A success message with instructions on the next action to take is displayed. If the decision tree is part of a Guided Decision with Inputs and Outputs activity in any playbooks, the success message displays the playbooks and their Guided Decision with Inputs and Outputs activities that use the decision tree. You must navigate to these playbooks and update the decision tree version to the latest version. Otherwise, these playbook activities continue using the older version until you update them to the latest version.

    Result

    • The decision tree status changes from Not active to Active.
    • The Activate button is disabled.
