# Create and associate topics

# Create and associate topics {#ariaid-title1}

Create topics that you want to associate with the new or cloned taxonomy.

## Vorbereitungen

When you have a lot of topics, ensure you set up user criteria for your topics.

Role required: taxonomy_admin

User criteria required: Taxonomy Manager, Taxonomy Contributor, Topic Manager, Topic Contributor.

## Prozedur

1. Navigate to AllContent TaxonomyTopics.
2. Click New.
3. On the form, fill in the fields.  
   For more information on the fields and description, see [Topic form](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/S4AlfluQzZC0XiBPqTWyRw "Use the topic form to create topics for the new or cloned taxonomy.").  
   Hinweis:  
   For better topic discovery and search results, avoid special character / and ensure you re-index the content after topic name edits.
4. Select Enable user preference check to set topic-level visibility and security.  
   Wichtig:  
   The Topic-based access control is available for Yokohama family release and beyond. For more information, see [Enable user criteria for topics](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/d~UQRZ~DpDx_ZEzxOsJyzw "Enable user criteria to configure topic-level security and visibility settings for topics.").

   When you clone or move a topic, the associated guided self-service also is cloned or moved accordingly.
5. Click Submit.  
   Hinweis:  
   Topics are visible only when content is associated with it.

You can review and manage content updates and outdated connected content from the notification and tabs.
