# Add work items to Sprint planning Backlog in CWM

# Add work items to Sprint planning Backlog in CWM {#ariaid-title1}

Create and add new work items to the Backlog directly from the Sprint planning view of Collaborative Work Management.

## Vorbereitungen

Role required: sn_cwm.cwm_user

## Prozedur

1. Navigate to WorkspacesCollaborative Work Management.
2. From a Space, select a Board that you're performing sprint planning for.
3. Select the Sprint planning tab.
4. From the Backlog pane, select the Add item (![Add item icon.]()) icon.  
5. Select the work item type from the Item type drop-down list.  
   The default work item type available is Task. You can enable other types such as Story or create a custom type. See [Create and manage custom work item types in CWM](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/itmO0BdK7NlvylN00Z8yjQ "Create custom item types for Boards in Collaborative Work Management, so that you can organize and manage multiple types of tasks from a single location, regardless of the workflow.").
6. On the form, fill in the details for the item such as short description, start and end dates, story points, and others.
7. Select Submit.

## Ergebnisse

The newly created work item is added to the Backlog.
