Use the Rich Content Editor to build long form content with an easy to use web styled tool.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_cd.content_manager

## About this task

Rich content provides the ability to create and schedule long form content using a drag-and-drop method without the knowledge of coding. Rich content helps you to easily and visually create high quality curated content that
matches the Service Portal look and feel with limited technical knowledge. You can target Rich content to any Portal page.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllContent PublishingContent LibraryCreate new.
2. Select Rich content then Continue.
3. Fill in the fields in the New content form.

   | Field | Description |
   |-|-|
   | Content name | The name that describes the content you are creating or editing. Note: This field appears as the content header in search results. |
   | Order | The number that indicates the order in which the portal and styled content appears in the Content list. |
   | Active | Indicates the content is active and available for use. Note: Since there is no direct method for migrating content records between ServiceNow® environments, we recommend you create content in your production environment and use the Active option and publish plans to control content availability. |
   | Version | Tracks content changes if content versioning is enabled. For more information, see [Content versioning](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/mzY5V_LLGLHcdg9OfvksEw "Content versioning tracks changes made to Portal and Rich content types after they are published, enabling managers to view previous versions of content."). |
   | State | Indicates whether the content is in draft or published. |

4. Select Open editor.
Selecting this button saves the information you entered above.
   Tip:
With the Rich Content Editor, you can easily use your keyboard to select individual canvas components. You can add text and columns, create text sections within those columns, and update headings within each section
to adjust the styling and fonts to your liking; It helps you customize your content in a simple and convenient way.

## What to do next

Create the page layout using modules or columns.

* Modules are predefined content layouts comprised of header, paragraph text, and images. See [Add predefined content layouts with the Rich Content Editor](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/ET73ITBt9BQ6ZBco1f0TmQ "Use modules to easily add new content layouts containing headers, paragraph text, and images. Choose from layouts comprised of three vertical cards, three horizontal cards, or a side-by-side configuration with an image positioned to the right of a text block.")
* Columns are containers that enable you to define a custom layout. See [Add columns with the Rich Content Editor](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/Y~GnPUzXyGtiIssnGPrhXA "Use the Rich Content Editor canvas to create columns to help define and organize your layout for your page.")
