Set up AI preferences to control resource usage and generation modes for task insights and request summaries.

## Before you begin

Check your entitlements to determine whether you have access to Now Assist or Moveworks licensing.

Employee Slate Advanced licensing and the Case and Knowledge Management for EmployeeWorks plugin are required to access HR task types in EmployeeWorks Web App. EmployeeWorks will be installed by one of the following plugins: Employee Slate (built for Now Assist) or ServiceNow
EmployeeWorks Web App.

Role required: esc_admin

## About this task

Configure the following AI preferences to manage smart prioritization for tasks and requests.

* AI assist represents a single background execution of an AI feature that automatically generates insights, card summaries, or smart task sorting across your organization.
* Task insight analyzes the tasks against policy criteria to identify compliance and optimization opportunities.

1. Follow the instructions here to [Configure branding and theme](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/UdNWrpLy9nCEar77UfXsfQ "In the admin console, configure branding, data sources, internal and external search sources, conversational assistant settings, canvas, and other features.").
2. Expand the Tasks and requests section and select Tasks to view the read-only list with task types, table, conditions, search, and configure tasks.
   Figure 1. Tasks
   Note:
   For additional information, select Configure tasks to go to tasks full-list or go to a specific task configuration by selecting external link icon. For more information, see [Employee tasks page](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/jFIkoGRT5LxuukebXmtLcQ "Configure the tasks page for employees to view and complete all their tasks on a single page. You can configure the page by applying filters to show user approvals, content tasks, and more.").
3. Expand the Tasks and requests section and select AI preferences to manage usage limits and insight and summaries.
   Figure 2. AI preferences
   Note:
   When you don't have appropriate licensing, AI preferences aren't visible in the navigation.
   1. Configure Usage limit per day for AI assists by selecting a value between 0 and 100,000.
      * Use default limit of 3000 assists per day.
      * Adjust the range from 0 to 100,000 assists per day to suit your needs.
      * Set the value to 0 to turn off the smart prioritization and revert to the due date-based sorting.
      {#emp-slate-tasks-requests__ul_whj_wph_njc}
   2. Configure the Insights and summaries modes for approval insights and request summaries.
      * For task insights, select Auto-generate to create insights automatically when task detail page loads or select On-demand to manually trigger from the Summarize button.
      * For request summaries, select Auto-generate to create summaries automatically when request detail page loads or select On-demand to manually trigger from the Summarize button.

      {#emp-slate-tasks-requests__ul_q3k_5xd_njc}
      Note:
      You can bring your own skills and configure the insights and summaries based on the task type. For more information on building a custom skill, see [Configure a custom AI insights skill for a task type](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/zszJT1qIuRHSTCpsSPxkqw "Configure a task to use a custom Now Assist skill for AI insights in the Task details widget. Optionally add a custom script to pre-process input or post-process the skill response.").
   3. Save the AI preferences configuration.
      Your preferences are applied to task and request processing.

4. Configure the E-signature for task workflows.
   The E-signature enables employees to securely sign documents within HR task workflows.
   1. Ensure the E-signature plugin (E-Signature for EmployeeWorks) is installed and active in your instance.
   2. Navigate to E-signature Configuration and configure the following:
      * Document archival location (typically linked to the HR case or employee record)
      * Notification settings for signers and approvers
      * Audit trail preferences
   3. Test the E-signature workflow with a sample HR task to verify document capture and archival.

   For more details, see [Task configuration enhancements](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/arzKefFVRSV8nC3cF~3yMA "Task configurations control how tasks appear and behave in Employee Center and EmployeeWorks Web App, including widget mappings.").
5. Select Mark as configured for each completed configuration section in the Admin Console.

## What to do next
