# Document blocks in Document Templates

# Document blocks in Document Templates {#ariaid-title1}

* Release version: Australia
*
* Updated March 12, 2026
*
* ![](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/portal-asset/ico-clock) 1 minute to read

Replace blocks of text in a document based on certain rules so that you do not have to
create multiple template versions of the same document.

Key features include:

* Create document blocks that you can use in multiple HTML templates. Each document template block can have multiple block contents. Each block content can be mapped to a condition. The first block content that matches the condition will be considered.Assume that there is a clause in a verification letter that is intended for employees of a particular geography or of a particular type. In this case, you can write a condition based on parameters
  such as employee location or employee type. Then, associate the condition to a content that must appear conditionally in the document that is being generated.

* Translate document templates and document block content by installing Localization Framework and language plugins that you require.
