AI in RPA Hub
Summarize
Summary of AI in RPA Hub
Now Assist for RPA Hub integrates generative AI into the RPA Desktop Design Studio to accelerate automation development. Instead of manual coding or workflow configuration, users describe automation needs using natural language, and Now Assist generates automations, activities, and logic rules. Users can preview generated code before deployment to ensure it meets their requirements. This capability supports both new and experienced users in building automations faster and more efficiently.

Key Features
- Create Automations with AI: Users can initiate new automations from text instructions via the RPA Desktop Design Studio interface by selecting "Create automation" and then "Build with Now Assist."
- Create Activities with AI: Users can generate specific automation activities from text inputs and preview options directly within the design studio.
- Extend Automation Logic with AI: Users can enhance or build automation logic by providing text instructions, either starting from an empty activity or by modifying components within existing automations.
- RPA Bot Generation Skill: This skill enables building automations based on textual input and is accessible from the RPA Desktop Design Studio UI.
Licensing and Application Requirements
- Requires Workflow Data Fabric (formerly Automation Engine) license and Now Assist for Creator license.
- Activation of the Now Assist for RPA Hub store app (com.snrpana) is necessary, which depends on RPA Hub (com.snrpafdn) and Now Assist for Creator (com.snnowcreator) apps.
Availability and Restrictions
- Not all AI model providers or features are available in all regions or for customers with in-country SKUs.
- Some AI capabilities are restricted in certain environments such as FedRAMP, NSC DOD IL5, Australia IRAP-Protected data centers, self-hosted setups, or regulated markets.
- Customers should monitor ServiceNow updates for changes in availability.
AI Limitations and Responsible Use
Because AI and machine learning are evolving fields, Now Assist may not always produce accurate or complete results. It is critical for customers to validate AI-generated outputs through testing and human oversight before deployment, especially in sensitive domains like healthcare, finance, legal, or security. Customers must comply with ServiceNow’s AI Acceptable Use Policy.
Data Processing and Privacy
- Using Now Assist involves transferring data from customer instances to centralized ServiceNow environments, possibly in different regions or third-party clouds like Microsoft Azure.
- Data is managed according to ServiceNow’s internal policies and compliance standards.
- ServiceNow collects inputs, outputs, and edits from the AI application to improve its technologies, but customers can opt out of data collection at any time.
Use Now Assist for RPA Hub to accelerate automation development with AI. Instead of writing code or configuring workflows manually, you can describe what you need in natural language and Now Assist generates automations, activities, and logic rules. You can preview generated code before deploying, ensuring it meets your requirements.
Now Assist for RPA Hub overview
- Build simple, brand-new automations quickly and efficiently.
- Easily add new activities to existing automations, ensuring modularity and scalability.
- Enhance the automation logic with text instructions, either in an empty activity or by selecting a component in an existing one.
Now Assist skill - RPA bot generation
The RPA bot generation skill helps users to build an automation that is based on text input. Access the RPA bot generation skill from the RPA Desktop Design Studio user interface.
For more information, see Robotic Process Automation (RPA) bot generation skill.
How to use the RPA bot generation skill
- Create an automation with AI
- Create an automation from text instructions and preview the options from the RPA Desktop Design Studio user interface. First, your user selects the Create automation option and then selects the Build with Now Assist option to get started. For more
information, see Create an automation with Now Assist.
The following example shows how an automation is created with the Now Assist in the RPA Desktop Design Studio user interface.

AI limitations
This application uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which are rapidly evolving fields of study that generate predictions based on patterns in data. As a result, this application may not always produce accurate, complete, or appropriate information. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that this application has been fully trained or tested for your use case. To mitigate these issues, it is your responsibility to test and evaluate your use of this application for accuracy, harm, and appropriateness for your use case, employ human oversight of output, and refrain from relying solely on AI-generated outputs for decision-making purposes. This is especially important if you choose to deploy this application in areas with consequential impacts such as healthcare, finance, legal, employment, security, or infrastructure. You agree to abide by ServiceNow’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, which may be updated by ServiceNow.
Data processing
This application requires data to be transferred from ServiceNow customers' individual instances to a centralized ServiceNow environment, which may be located in a different data center region from the one where your instance is, and potentially to a third-party cloud provider, such as Microsoft Azure. This data is handled per ServiceNow's internal policies and procedures, including our policies available through our CORE Compliance Portal.
Data collection
ServiceNow collects and uses the inputs, outputs, and edits to outputs of this application to develop and improve ServiceNow technologies including ServiceNow models and AI products. Customers can opt out of future data collection at any time, as described in the Now Assist Opt-Out page.
