The AI Data Kit plugin for ServiceNow Otto enables you to add datasets to a data catalog and create collections for use in AI Skill Kit.

## AI Data Kit overview {#exploring-now-assist-data-kit__cf-exploring-parent-overview}

If the base system ServiceNow Otto skills don't fit your needs, use AI Data Kit to create custom datasets and data collections. These can be used in AI Skill Kit for evaluation.

## AI Data Kit users {#exploring-now-assist-data-kit__cf-exploring-parent-users}

## AI Data Kit workflow {#exploring-now-assist-data-kit__cf-exploring-parent-workflow}

The following diagram shows the user journey for AI Data Kit.

Two users take part in this workflow. The AI practitioner does most of the work. An analyst
can enter and review ground truth values.

1. [Create a skill](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/~ak7kL0bW_JQBd9zdU1nAA "Create a custom skill for Otto. Custom skills extend the generative AI capabilities of Otto to fit your own use cases.") in AI Skill Kit.

2. [Add records from an instance table](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/8aGymAvZPh0NnKAOU3uV3A "Add the data from a table to a data catalog as a dataset through generative AI by using the AI Data Kit application. Adding a dataset is required to create and publish a data collection.") to the data catalog as
   a dataset. If you don't have suitable records, [generate synthetic data](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/CZG7PnldRk80c4IeMjG7eQ "Create synthetic data with a sample dataset and a prompt through generative AI by using the AI Data Kit application. You can use synthetic data to create training for a test model or an evaluation dataset.") instead.

3. (Optional) [Create a derived dataset](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/RzgYdXt7cK4IZriEAsSycg "Create a smaller dataset from an existing dataset through generative AI by using the AI Data Kit application. A derived dataset enables you to choose a smaller dataset.") to work
   with a smaller set of records.

4. (Optional) Check the dataset before you use it:

   * [Scan for sensitive data](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/qtH_BYLZAsGRafo7yaXM5A "You can scan your datasets for sensitive data, like personally identifiable information (PII). If you find sensitive data, then you can cleanse it from your datasets.") and cleanse what the scan
     finds.

   * [View data insights](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/Nw77ps1svixeext4MyjrBg "You can view data insights to see the completeness and distribution of your generated data.") to see completeness and
     distribution.

5. (Optional) [Add a ground truth](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/3vCh~Vt0TiREOugFmDhZ5w "Add a ground truth, which is the real-world data that is used to train and test AI models to each dataset record. You can do this task by using the AI Data Kit application.") to each dataset record.
   The AI practitioner creates the guidelines. An analyst can enter and review the values.

6. [Create a data collection](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/lMBxQ5Pc_qQqWN5MglvFpQ "Combine one or more datasets into a data collection, choosing the columns and records to include. Then, publish the collection so that you can use it to evaluate a skill in AI Skill Kit.") and add
   one or more datasets to it.

7. (Optional) Apply a sampling method to choose which records go into the collection.

8. Publish the data collection.

9. Return to AI Skill Kit, select the data collection, and run the
   evaluation.

10. Review the results, iterate on the prompt if needed, and publish the skill.
