## Summary of Asset analytics view

The Asset analytics view in ServiceNow provides a comprehensive insight into your hardware assets, focusing on the total cost of ownership (TCO) and asset performance.
This functionality is available starting with Hardware Asset Management version 10.0.0 and later.
It enables you to filter asset data by location, stockroom, and model category to tailor your analysis.

## Key Features

* **Total Cost of Ownership (TCO):** Displays critical metrics including the number of assets that have reached or are approaching the benchmark TCO, with a default threshold set at 75% of the benchmark. This threshold can be adjusted via a system property. It also tracks assets suitable for capital planning, the top 10 models with the highest average TCO over 12 months, and asset expense distribution by categories such as labor, shipment, and purchase.
* **Filtering and Reporting:** Supports domain separation when specific plugins are enabled. Users can generate and review comparative TCO reports directly within the Asset analytics view.
* **Asset Performance:** Provides key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Availability, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) with weekly trend analysis. KPI reports can be filtered by model category, location, or model, with up to two filters applied simultaneously.
* **KPI Details and Targets:** Allows exploration of detailed KPI data, setting performance targets, and configuring notifications for significant KPI changes to proactively manage asset health.

## Key Outcomes

* Gain a clear, data-driven understanding of hardware asset costs and lifecycle status to support budgeting and capital planning decisions.
* Monitor asset performance through essential KPIs to identify issues and optimize availability and repair times.
* Customize views and reports to focus on specific asset categories or locations, enhancing targeted asset management strategies.
* Leverage notification signals to stay informed about key changes in asset performance, enabling timely interventions.
Use the Asset analytics view to get a detailed view of all your hardware assets, the total cost of ownership (TCO) of your assets, and the asset performance.

## Total cost of ownership {#asset-analytics-view__section_uvx_2rz_wfc}

For more information about the TCO of your assets, see [Asset Total Cost of Ownership for Hardware Asset Management](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/Gj9h7OPzU9CPz2ftJLP0FQ "Assets incur costs throughout their life cycle, including initial capital costs and operational costs. Asset Total Cost of Ownership helps Asset managers to understand, analyze, and track the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of assets, where the total cost includes initial capital cost and operation cost.").
Important:
The Asset Analytics view is available with Hardware Asset Management 10.0.0 version or later.

You can filter and narrow down your results by selecting a location, stockroom, and model category.
Note:
TCO reports support domain separation when Domain Extension Installer (com.glide.domain.msp_extensions.installer) and Domain Support (com.snc.pa.domain_support) plugins are activated.

| Field | Description |
|-|-|
| Reached benchmark TCO | The number of assets that have their TCO more than or equal to the benchmark cost. |
| Approaching benchmark TCO | The number of assets that have their TCO more than or equal to the benchmark threshold but less than the benchmark cost. The TCO benchmark threshold percentage is set to 75% of the TCO benchmark cost by default. For example, if you have set the benchmark as $1000 and the asset cost has reached $750, the asset is considered to be approaching the benchmark TCO. Use the system property sn_itam_common.asset_tco_benchmark_threshold_percentage to update the benchmark threshold percentage. For more information about the hardware asset field values, see [Asset record fields](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/uYS0~kMyQ0K0Y1Umbx668g "Fields on the Hardware Asset Details form help you create hardware, software, consumable, bundle, pallet, mobile, and facility assets."). |
| Capital planning | Number of assets for capital planning. The Assets for capital planning are assets that are not retired and their current life cycle phase is true. |
| Top 10 models with highest average TCO | Top 10 models that have the highest average asset TCO in a 12-month duration. |
| Asset reached benchmark cost by category | Number of assets whose asset TCO has reached benchmark cost based on model category. |
| Assets expense distribution | Costs incurred on your assets based on the expense categories such as labor, shipment, and purchase. |
| Monthly asset expense distribution (last 12 months) | Monthly initial and operational costs of your assets over the last 12 months. |

Comparative reports

: View the most recently created TCO reports in this section.

    You can also create a report by selecting New in the Comparative reports section. For more information, [Create a TCO report in Hardware Asset Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/DyxGi6SQi1ysOcIBHXJOzg "Create your own Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) report to compare the actual or projected TCO of multiple assets or compare the actual or projected asset TCO with the benchmark cost of the hardware model.").

## Asset performance {#asset-analytics-view__section_mny_wrz_wfc}

The Asset performance tab provides details on the average values of the following key performance indicators (KPIs):

* Availability
* Mean time between failures (MTBF)
* Mean time to repair (MTTR)

{#asset-analytics-view__ul_zdw_dxx_vfc}
Note:
For more details on calculation of KPIs, see [Asset performance reports in the Hardware Asset Workspace](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/79usjue0RjKQDEYQiczsjg "Gain insights into the overall operational efficiency of your organization's hardware assets by using the asset performance reports available in the Asset analytics view.").
By default, the Model category filter is applied to the KPI reports. To further narrow down and focus on specific data, you can also select any one of the following filters:

* Location
* Model

{#asset-analytics-view__ul_vmf_xxt_wfc}
Note:
You can apply a maximum of two filters to any KPI report.

You can see a weekly trend of the average KPI values in the report. The Asset Availability list provides KPI details for all hardware assets that are tracked. The average KPI values are calculated based on the assets in this list.

When you select any KPI report, the KPI Details page appears. This page enables you to explore the information within that KPI. You can set targets you want to achieve and also set signals to notify you of any
significant changes in the KPI.
