Summary of Managing SPM work in Collaborative Work Management
ServiceNow’s Collaborative Work Management (CWM) enables team members to view and update project tasks and demand tasks directly within CWM without needing access to Project Workspace or Next Experience for Demand Management. This capability is facilitated through specific team member roles that provide controlled access to assigned work items, allowing efficient task management and time tracking.

Team Member Roles and Access
- Team member read ([snstm.teammemberread]): Allows users to view project and demand tasks and leave comments.
- Team member read-write ([snstm.teammemberreadwrite]): Allows full viewing and editing of project and demand tasks.
Assigning either role automatically grants the user the CWM user role and Time card user role, enabling time card submissions against tasks.
Using CWM Features for Task Management
- My Work: Centralized view of all project and demand tasks assigned to the user, simplifying task tracking.
- Connected Work: Allows users to pull tasks into CWM Boards using flexible filters (e.g., assigned to the user or their group), with capabilities to edit tasks directly on the board.
Administrators can apply additional Access Control Lists (ACLs) to restrict access to specific tasks beyond default broad access.
Calendar Access and Management
Users with team member roles can access My Calendar to:
- View and edit their calendar
- Create and delete their own events
Users only see events they have created, maintaining privacy and individual control.
Important Considerations
- Team member roles do not grant access to Project Workspace or Next Experience for Demand Management interfaces.
- The ServiceNow AI Platform instance must have SPM applications installed to enable task visibility from CWM.
- The Timecard Management application is required for team members to submit time cards against project or demand tasks.
Practical Benefits for ServiceNow Customers
By leveraging team member roles in CWM, organizations can empower their teams to efficiently manage assigned project and demand tasks without additional licensing for Project Workspace. This streamlines collaboration, enhances visibility into work status, and facilitates accurate time tracking, all within the familiar CWM environment.
