The Classic Project Workspace in ServiceNow provides a centralized location to define, plan, track, and monitor projects. It allows project managers to view project status, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to make informed decisions and take further actions. Note that Classic Project Workspace is slated for future deprecation and will no longer be available for installation, though it will continue to be supported. Customers are encouraged to transition to the new Project Workspace with an enhanced user interface for improved project management efficiency.

Key Features
- My Projects Space: Displays up to 200 of the most recently updated projects as cards based on filter criteria. Each card provides a summary to quickly assess project status and health.
- Banner Icons: Enable quick navigation, including a home icon to return to the project list, a project choice list filtered by criteria, and a checklist icon to build and manage project activities.
- Tabs within Project Workspace:
- Analytics: Offers insights into open risks, issues, and delayed milestones.
- Details: Allows defining critical project attributes such as duration, estimated cost, and organizational value.
- Planning: Provides access to the planning console to create schedules, assign resources, set baselines, and view the critical path.
- Resources: Available only to project managers, this tab facilitates finding resource availability and managing resource plans and assignments.
- Financials: Displays detailed cost breakdowns, including planned costs, estimated returns, budgets, and benefit plans. Enables creation and comparison of baselines to track project financial changes.
- Status Report: Shows comprehensive project status reports for monitoring progress.

- Tracking and Resource Management: Utilize the Project Workbench for detailed tracking, and manage resource availability and plans to ensure project needs are met.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor costs and benefits using the Financials tab, create baselines, and request funds to align project investments with business goals.
- Status Reporting: Generate and review project status reports to maintain oversight and communicate progress.

Classic Project Workspace is being prepared for future deprecation. It will be hidden and no longer available for installation but will continue to be supported. Projects in the My Projects Space page
The project workspace overview page — My Projects Space — displays projects as cards based on filter criteria. A maximum of the 200 most recently updated projects appear on the page. Clicking a card opens the project in the project workspace. You can configure the information that is displayed on a card.
The components of the workspace are:
Banner icons
The following banner icons are available in project workspace:
- Home
- The home icon (
) enables you to return to the list of project cards on My Projects Space page.
- Project choice list
- The choice list displays the projects that you can select to open in project workspace. The projects in the choice list appear based on the filter criteria applied in My Projects Space page.
- Project checklist
- The checklist icon (
) helps you to build the checklist of activities that must be completed in a project.
Tabs in the project workspace
The project workspace comprises of the following tabs described at a high level:
- Analytics
- The Analytics tab provides analytics on project aspects such as open risks, open issues, and delayed milestones.
- Details
- The Details tab opens the project form and enables you to define important aspects of the project.
- Planning
- The Planning tab opens the project in the planning console. The tab also enables you to navigate to Project workbench and track your project in the workbench.
- Resources
- The Resources tab enables you to find resources, and create and manage the resources plans for the project and project tasks. The tab is available only to a project manager.
- Financials
- The Financials tab displays breakdowns of cost components of a project: planned cost, estimated returns, allocated budget, cost plans, and benefit plans. You can create baselines and compare baselines from this tab to track changes occurring during execution of project or demand.
- Status Report
- The Status Report tab displays the project status reports.
