The Discovery Status Details page in Discovery Admin Workspace provides a comprehensive summary of discovery runs initiated from schedules. It shows identified devices, errors, and anomalies during the discovery process, helping ServiceNow customers monitor and troubleshoot discovery activities effectively. This feature is available starting with Discovery Admin Workspace version 1.8.0.

Access the status details by navigating to Workspaces > Discovery Admin Workspace > Schedules > Discovery status. The schedule header displays key information such as discovery details, MID Server info, and anomaly severity. From version 1.10.0 onward, Quick Discovery schedules are clearly labeled, and deleted schedules no longer display their names in the header.
The status header also shows run-specific details like start/end times, probe counts, and anomalies detected (when anomaly detection is enabled). Active or starting statuses allow real-time updates via the Refresh icon.

- Cloud Resource Categorization: For cloud-based discoveries, a bar chart categorizes discovered cloud resources by CI type, with options to refresh or save the chart.
- Debugging Tab: Displays Discovery Log records covering classification failures, CMDB updates, and authentication issues. The ECC Queue view shows probe and sensor activity flow with XML payload details for in-depth troubleshooting.
Practical Use for ServiceNow Customers
This page enables customers to monitor discovery progress, quickly identify and resolve errors, and gain detailed insight into device and cloud resource discoveries. It supports operational transparency and troubleshooting for discovery schedules, improving the accuracy and reliability of CMDB population.
By leveraging the detailed visualizations, error details, and debug information, customers can effectively manage discovery runs, optimize their discovery configurations, and address anomalies proactively, ensuring consistent and comprehensive asset data in their ServiceNow environment.
The Discovery Status Details page offers a summary of a discovery initiated from a schedule, detailing the devices identified, any errors encountered, and any anomalies found.
If the status is Active or Starting, selecting the Refresh icon () updates the Started and Completed values in the header in real time.

The Details tab includes visualizations that provide detailed information about the Discovery status. Depending on whether the status pertains to a discovery that is IP-based or cloud-based, the visualizations provide a detailed overview of the schedule’s performance and current status. They highlight key metrics such as the number of devices and IPs discovered, cloud resources identified, and any errors encountered during the run.
Select the More Options icon (
), then select Refresh to refresh the data for each visualization in this section.

By default, detected errors display, sorted by priority. Each error card includes details such as the error title, severity, refined code, occurrence count, and error category. Selecting an error card or the Occurrences link opens the Error Details page, where you can view the root cause, remediation steps, and individual error instances. For IP-based schedules, the Total Devices, New Devices, and Duplicate IPs tables provide additional details such as the Source, Classification probe, and Scan status. Selecting the Source hyperlink opens a page where you can view more information about the device, apply tags, and access the Discovery Log and ECC Queue details. Selecting the Total IPs indicator opens the Shazzam Summary table, where you can access details such as IP addresses, IP Range, and Network Range. To learn more about a specific item, simply select its hyperlink in the table.
For cloud-based schedules, selecting the Total Cloud Resources indicator reveals a bar chart that categorizes each discovered cloud resource by its CI type. Select the More Options icon (
), to refresh or save the chart.

The Debugging tab provides information about the Discovery Log and ECC Queue.

), to refresh the data for each visualization in this section.
By default, the Discovery Log table displays information such as classification failures, CMDB updates, and authentication failures. A Discovery Log record is created for each action associated with a discovery status.
Select the ECC Queue indicator to display entries in the ECC Queue. The entries show a connected flow of probe and sensor activity and the actual XML payload sent to or from an instance.
