## Summary of Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard

The Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard provides ServiceNow customers with a comprehensive view of performance metrics for their Discovery environment.
It helps monitor discovery health and quickly identify issues across the IT landscape, ensuring efficient discovery operations and troubleshooting.
Show full answer Show less
Access the dashboard via **Workspaces \> Discovery Admin Workspace \> Insights \> Discovery Operations Monitor** or from the Discovery Admin Workspace Home page. Access requires the **discoveryadmin** or **admin** roles.

Prerequisites include running the ServiceNow AI Platform on the Brazil, Australia, Zurich, or Yokohama releases, and having Discovery Admin Workspace version 1.15.0 or later installed.

## Key Features

* The dashboard visualizes discovery performance data collected for the most recently completed 15-minute interval, reflecting near real-time metrics.
* Interactive elements allow users to view detailed records by selecting data points in visualizations.
* Dashboard management actions include duplicating, sharing, exporting, scheduling, printing, and editing visualizations and data sources.
* Individual visualizations can be exported in CSV, JPEG, PNG, or Excel formats for further analysis or reporting.
* Dashboard info icons provide metadata such as ownership and usage details.

## Data Visualizations

The dashboard includes the following key visual reports to help customers analyze discovery operations:

* **Transaction Duration (Line chart):** Compares discovery transaction durations against overall system transactions over time, enabling identification of discovery-specific performance anomalies.
* **Sensor Jobs by Schedule (Bar chart):** Shows counts of discovery sensor jobs over time, segmented by schedule to identify which schedules generate the highest sensor job load.
* **MID Server Queue Load (Line chart):** Tracks ECC queue volumes over time per MID Server involved in discovery, helping identify processing bottlenecks.
* **MID Server Average Probe Time (Line chart):** Displays average probe processing time for ECC probes over time, assisting in monitoring probe efficiency.
* **Discovery Event Load (Bar chart):** Presents volumes of discovery events by type over time, such as errors, completions, and cancellations, facilitating event trend analysis.

## Key Outcomes

By using the Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard, ServiceNow customers can expect to:

* Gain timely insights into discovery transaction performance and system load.
* Identify and diagnose discovery-related issues and anomalies quickly.
* Monitor MID Server and sensor job performance to optimize discovery schedules and resources.
* Access detailed event data to understand discovery lifecycle events and errors.
* Leverage flexible export and dashboard customization options to integrate discovery metrics into operational workflows and reports.
The Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard displays performance metrics for your Discovery environment. Use this dashboard to monitor discovery health and identify issues across your IT landscape.

## Key features {#disco-operations-monitor__key-features}

The Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard displays visuals for discovery performance data.
Note:
Metrics are collected for the most recently completed 15-minute window. Data may not reflect activity from the current interval until collection has run. For more information, see [Configure the time interval for a visualization](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/uDDfCM~hixqQQ3U0wMQ6vw "Update the data collection time interval for individual visualizations on the Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard. By default, each visualization displays data in 15-minute intervals.").

Select the info icon (![]()) to view dashboard details, such as the owner and usage. Select the More Actions icon (![]()) to duplicate, share, export, schedule, or print the dashboard. Select Edit to access editing mode, where you can update the data source and visualization settings. For more
information about editing dashboards, see [Common dashboard tasks in the in-line editor](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=common-dashboard-tasks&version=brazil&pubname=brazil-now-intelligence&ft:locale=en-US).

Select the More Options icon (![]()) on a visualization to export it in CSV, JPEG, PNG, or Excel format.

| Report title | Type | Description |
|-|-|-|
| Transaction Duration | Line chart | Displays discovery transaction duration compared to overall system transaction duration over time. Use this chart to identify discovery-specific spikes or anomalies relative to system activity. Select a record to view the related transactions. |
| Sensor Jobs by Schedule | Bar chart | Displays the count of discovery sensor jobs over time, stacked by schedule. Use this chart to identify which schedules contribute most to sensor job load. |
| MID Server Queue Load | Line chart | Displays ECC queue volume over time for MID Servers associated with discovery. Metrics are tracked separately for each MID Server. Select a record to view the ECC queue records. |
| MID Server Average Probe Time | Line chart | Displays the average ECC probe processing time in seconds over time. Select a record to view the related ECC queue records. |
| Discovery Event Load | Bar chart | Displays the volume of discovery events over time. The chart tracks four event types: discovery.error, discovery.device.complete, discovery.complete, and discovery.canceled. Select a record to view related events. |

Note:
The dashboard displays data from the last 7 days by default. Data is retained for 30 days. For more information, see [Configure the date range for a visualization](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/o4mD~kObytSwfgzLcPbJow "Update the data time frame for individual visualizations on the Discovery Operations Monitor dashboard. By default, each visualization displays data from the last 7 days. You can extend the time frame up to 30 days, which is the maximum data retention period for this dashboard.").
