## Summary of Exploring Platform Analytics dashboards

Platform Analytics dashboards enable ServiceNow customers to access, organize, and share data visually.
Dashboards include data visualizations, filters, and other interactive elements to facilitate data analysis and decision-making within your organization.
Show full answer Show less
All dashboards accessible to you---those you own, are shared with you, or have bookmarked---can be found in the Dashboards library via **All \> Platform Analytics \> Library \> Dashboards**. The navigation pane within library pages helps you seamlessly move between libraries and usage insights without disrupting your workflow. Access and functionality depend on assigned user roles.

## Roles and Permissions

Dashboard capabilities vary by role. Non-admin users have limited functionality, while analytics admins can create, activate, deactivate, delete categories, and manage dashboards more extensively. Key roles include:

* **dashboardadmin** -- minimum role required for dashboard management
* **platformanalyticsadmin** and **admin** -- provide broader administrative capabilities

Brazil release instances support both Core UI and Platform Analytics dashboards in the Dashboards library, with role-based access controlling visibility and editing rights.

## Dashboard Components

When viewing a dashboard, users interact with several key components that enhance usability and control:

* **Dashboard title:** Displays and allows switching between dashboards.
* **Refresh information and button:** Shows last refresh time and enables manual refresh; admins can configure automatic refresh intervals.
* **Certification and category badges:** Indicate company approval and categorize dashboards for easier identification.
* **Details button:** Displays ownership, sharing, and access permissions.
* **Insights button:** Provides proactive analytics insights through cards.
* **Edit and More actions buttons:** Allow admins and owners to modify, share, duplicate, print, bookmark, or delete dashboards.
* **Top stage and Tabs:** Filters and organize content across multiple tabs for efficient data management.

## Practical Usage

ServiceNow customers can leverage these dashboards to visually analyze and share critical data efficiently. Role-based controls ensure appropriate access and editing capabilities, maintaining security and data integrity.

The coexistence of Core UI and Platform Analytics dashboards allows flexible adoption based on your organization's needs. Understanding the differences and configuration options helps tailor dashboards to specific use cases.
Use Platform Analytics dashboards to access, organize, and share data in a visual format.

## Dashboards library overview {#ac-elements__section_yxt_hxr_12c}

You can find all the [dashboards](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/mShtAtHrVm3EJvKCaOxvbQ#gloss-dashboard "A canvas for organizing and sharing data visually. Dashboards contain data visualizations, filters, and other visual elements. Users can share dashboards with other users, groups, or roles to create a shared view of data.") that you have permission to access, dashboards that you own, dashboards that you have bookmarked, and dashboards that have been shared with you by navigating to AllPlatform AnalyticsLibraryDashboards. You can also directly access Dashboards from the filter navigation in Platform Analytics library pages.

Library pages like this one include a navigation pane that provides access to

the other libraries and the Usage Insights page. Use it to navigate between the libraries without interrupting your
workflow.

For information on role-based access for the filter navigation pane and Platform Analytics overview page, see [Roles applicable for Platform Analytics overview page](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/N96NjeUh7zVlTMfFE4MNOA#analytics-center__table_a12_23s_k3c).

For more information on Dashboards library, see [Dashboards in the library](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/eJOChCUtWqKpFLyY4QwVVg "Use Platform Analytics dashboards to access, organize, and share data in a visual format. Dashboards contain data visualizations, filters, and other visual elements.").

## Dashboards for analytics admins {#ac-elements__section_hwf_kwj_kfc}

The configuration of the Dashboards page and the data access depends on the user roles. Users without admin roles have limited capabilities, as compared to the analytics admins. The analytics admins can perform actions such as
deactivating, activating, deleting, or creating categories. For Dashboards, the applicable roles are dashboard_admin, platform_analytics_admin, and admin. The lowest role required is dashboard_admin. For more information on all dashboard roles, see table [Dashboard roles](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/9DexzqdJbtnHOvqfQwdBqg#platform-analytics-roles__table_d1r_2vc_k2c).

On Brazil instances, you can find both Core UI dashboards and Platform Analytics experience dashboards in the Dashboards library.

For more information, see [Dashboards for analytics admins](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/oKI2oCh4N_lfrnSbIzUjbA "Use Platform Analytics dashboards to access, organize, and share data in a visual format. Dashboards contain data visualizations, filters, and other visual elements."). For more
information on the types of admin roles in Platform Analytics, see
[Platform Analytics roles](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/9DexzqdJbtnHOvqfQwdBqg "Platform Analytics has both unique roles and roles from other applications that apply to it.").
