Data snapshots sources and collection

Summary of Data Snapshots Sources and Collection
Data snapshots are essential for collecting indicator scores and mapping these scores to their respective data sources. When Data snapshots are activated for an automated indicator, it replaces the traditional source with a Data snapshots source. Customers can create and manage these sources to improve data collection and analysis.

Key Features
- Data Snapshots Sources: Each indicator in the Indicators library shows its source in the Source column. If the Data snapshots status is enabled, the source is recognized as a Data snapshots source.
- Access and Management: Users with the padatacollector, paadmin, or admin roles can view Data snapshots sources in the [padmanalyticssource] table. The data collection job can be disabled, but to re-enable it, customers must contact Now Support.
- Data Collection Jobs: Data snapshots jobs are managed in the [sysautodmcdccollector] table, and classic Performance Analytics jobs continue to run alongside these. The classic jobs are maintained for rollback purposes and do not affect indicators with Data snapshots enabled.
- Job Logs: Detailed logs for Data snapshots jobs are stored in the [padmtasktelemetry] table, providing visibility into all job activities.
- Creating Data Snapshots Sources: Customers can create filtered datasets for analysis by establishing indicator sources tailored for Data snapshots indicators.
Key Outcomes
By utilizing Data snapshots, ServiceNow customers can enhance their data collection processes, ensuring more accurate and relevant performance insights. The ability to create and manage these sources allows for better customization in analytics, leading to improved decision-making capabilities based on real-time data changes.
Data snapshots include data sources for indicator score collection and the mapping between indicators and these sources.
Data snapshots sources
For each classic automated indicator that successfully has Data snapshots activated, the Performance Analytics indicator and breakdown sources are replaced by a Data snapshots source. You can also create Data snapshots sources. You can view the Data snapshots source for each indicator in the Indicators library (). The source is given in the Source column. If the Data snapshots status is Enabled, this source is a Data snapshots source. Otherwise, it is the traditional indicator source. Data snapshots source names are in lower case with the individual words separated by underlines.
Data snapshots data sources and logs
Data snapshots source records include logs of the original enablement and all subsequent data collection jobs that are related to that data source.
Data snapshots collection jobs
Data snapshots jobs are located in the Scheduled Data Collections [sysauto_dm_cdc_collector] table and are accessible read-only to pa_admin users. To open the jobs, navigate to .
Classic Performance Analytics data collection jobs continue to run in parallel with Data snapshots collection jobs. The scores from the classic jobs are not used for indicators with Data snapshots enabled. The classic jobs still run to simplify rollback if necessary.
Data snapshots collection jobs copy a subset of the source table. These jobs also create a copy of every daily change for a record. These jobs may therefore result in increased storage use by Performance Analytics.
Data snapshots job logs
All job logs are in the Data Snapshots Statistics [pa_dm_task_telemetry] table. Open Data snapshots job logs at . Whereas a Data snapshots source record shows only the job logs related to that data source, the Data Snapshots Statistics list shows all Data snapshots job logs.
