## Overview of monitoring capacity subscriptions {#monitoring-capacity-subscriptions__cf-using-parent-workflow}

Capacity subscription usage is calculated using a table query or scripted definition. You can view a Capacity Definition record to view the details of the table query or scripted definition. You can also execute the definition on
demand to view the latest counts.

After determining how a capacity total for a subscription is calculated, you can maintain compliance by adjusting the number of assigned resources or increasing your capacity subscription. For example, you can determine which
tables are queried for active users or how usage is defined for devices when the system allocates CIs to a capacity subscription.
