# Add or edit an application category

# Add or edit an application category {#ariaid-title1}

Each application should have an application category defined. This field is used to describe the purpose of the application, and the key business function this application supports. You can keep the categorization at a high
level, like a business function. For example, Sales, HR, Marketing, and Manufacturing.

## Antes de Iniciar

Role required: sn_apm.apm_admin

## Procedimento

1. Navigate to WorkspaceEnterprise Architecture Workspace.
2. Open the Setup page by selecting the Setup icon ![Setup icon]().
3. Select the expand row icon (![Expand Row icon]()) next to Application Categories.
4. Select All.
5. Add or edit an application category.  
   * To add an application category, select New.
   * To update details of an existing application category, select the application category.

6. On the form, fill in the fields.

7. Select Save.
