Content engagement enhances news articles by providing users with a way to comment and react to articles and for managers to measure the effectiveness of their content using engagement metrics.

## Overview of Content engagement {#ec-content-engagement__section_zzd_jkw_sbc}

Content engagement features are seamlessly embedded in news articles to enable employees to view engagement summaries at the top of the article, select a reaction icon, or post a comment.

Content managers can choose which content engagement features to enable when creating a news article. To enable faster news article publishing, content admins can pre-set Content engagement features in a content template.

## Reporting content {#ec-content-engagement__section_cdr_rnt_3bc}

Content engagement includes a comment reporting workflow, where employees can report a comment and content managers can view the reports and take appropriate action.

## Engagement analytics {#ec-content-engagement__section_q5p_snt_3bc}

Content analytics provides visualizations for employee engagement metrics in the [Content engagement dashboard](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/a7FZKRx0UI_S3lomzGE_EQ "Content analytics displays data visualizations of engagement metrics for content published to the portal or Now mobile app in the Content Engagement dashboard.").

Additionally, you can review visualizations for a specific news article, including total views count, engagement trends by day, and unique views by day. Navigate to the news article content item and click View analytics report in the hamburger menu.

## Setting up Content engagement {#ec-content-engagement__section_vyh_pkw_sbc}

Content engagement is installed as a plugin. The features are enabled through the Content Publishing properties and delivered to employees via news article widgets. Follow these steps to setup Content engagement:

1. [Activate Content engagement](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/sns1p1wnzB9C~tZ6vU1V_w "You can activate the Content Engagement [sn_ce] plugin if you have the admin role to enable employee engagement activities (reaction icons, comments, or sharing content) with portal and mobile content.")
2. Enable Content engagement in Content Publishing properties: [Properties installed with Content Publishing](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/IdSghONd9HUA4g1Orn6VBQ "The Content Publishing [com.sn_content_delivery] plugin adds the following properties that are designed to control how scheduled jobs work in relation to notifications, to-dos, and communities.")
3. [Configure a custom reaction](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/PnxJZ2~h_zpBK50Xa4IpZw "Content engagement utilizes font awesome icons to provide several out-of-the-box reactions for employees to interact with news articles. Engagement admins can customize the out-of-the-box reactions or configure their own.") (optional)
4. Enable Content engagement in Content templates: [Content templates](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/hmDc8dcv5w5~5dKXFgm0Cg "Content templates empower content creators to efficiently publish large volumes of news articles. Each template defines the article layout, publishing schedule, destination, and target audience. By associating a news article with a content template, the system automatically generates publish plans, which reduces the effort required to publish content.") (optional).
