# Create a return to work case from an injury or illness

# Create a return to work case from an injury or illness {#ariaid-title1}

If an employee is returning to work after an injury or illness, create a return to work case to assess the employee's capability to work before they return.

## Antes de Iniciar

Ensure that the following conditions are met:

* The Health and Safety Case Management (sn_hs_cm) application is installed on your ServiceNow instance. For more information, see [Install Health and Safety Case Management](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/2QRsXrf1JSDU0_jxWfEVCQ "You can install the Health and Safety Case Management application (sn_hs_cm) if you have the admin role. The application includes demo data and installs related ServiceNow Store applications and plugins if they are not already installed.").
* The Human Resources Scoped App: Core (com.sn_hr_core) plugin is not installed on your instance. For more information on activating it, see [Activate Case and Knowledge Management](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/gZB6CwJvC4xxO3_iTsKjXA "You can activate Human Resources Scoped App: Core [com.sn_hr_core] if you have the admin role. This plugin includes demo data and activates related plugins if they are not already active.").
* Employee is selected in the Person type field on the injury and illness record. For more information, see [Injury and illness fields](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/8T224kklNxAbcZ0T1U~Eng "Safety managers and agents can use the Injury and illness form to log an injury or illness. A safety compliance manager can access an injury and illness report and mark it as recordable for reporting purposes. They can also use it to generate the injury and illness reports.").

Role required: sn_ohs_im.manager, sn_ohs_im.agent, or sn_ohs_im.operations_manager, and sn_hs_cm.case_manager

## Procedimento

1. Navigate to AllHealth and SafetyHealth and Safety Workspace.
2. Select the incident management icon (![Incident Management icon.]()) and navigate to the Lists tab.
3. Open an injury and illness record to add the return to work case to.

   | From a safety incident | 1. In the Safety Incidents list, select All. 2. In the list, select the incident that contains the injury and illness report to add the return to work case to. 3. Select the Report an incident tab to open the playbook. 4. 4. Select Create RTW case and then select Confirm.

## Resultado

* The return to work case is created and added to the RTW case record field on the injury form. * The injury and illness record is auto-populated in the Injury and illness tab of the return to work case.
